My 2016 GTPP will match RPMs as I'm upshifting, e.g. engine speed will hang at the correct RPM for the next gear.

I know there is no setting I can change to turn this off, but is there any way to have the dealer disable this with a factory programming tool or something?

As far as I know a tune will get rid of it. Not sure if the dealer has the ability to or not. I would like to know also as its the most annoying thing. Just because I wind out 2nd doesn't mean I want to keep going lol. I know if I blip the throttle they'll fall.

I know my WRX suffered this same issue and it was mentioned that stock tunes purposely do this to help burn off exhaust fuel/fumes. Not sure how much truth to that is but it can be tuned out.

There is no rev match on up (or down shifts), the computer holds the throttle to stop the the throttle from snapping closed and screwing the emissions rating.

I guarantee you that you won't find anything in that manual, or anything from Ford, about rev match upshift (or downshift).

Mine first this too, lowers as soon as I put it into gear. Extremely annoying when the engine is still cold.

It may be for emissions but it does hold the rpm where the next upshift should be, so it does "rev match" in a sense on the upshift only.

Yes, this is really the only time that I notice it. When the engine is cold, it holds RPMs like they're going extinct.

You're talking about something different, which I've noticed too. It is slow to drop RPMs when the engine is cold. This is actually okay with me, because the engine is one of the fastest to reach operating temperature that I've ever owned.

What I'm talking about is how it will completely hold RPM at the correct value for the next gear, for several seconds. Instead of having to get the timing right in order to get a smooth shift, you can just stand on the clutch pedal for a few seconds and then release it, and it will still be at the exact RPM you need for the next gear. This is really annoying if you want to skip shift as well, though I hardly ever do that.

Ah, yes I have seen that behavior as well. I can see how it would cause an issue if you wanted to do like a 2-4 or 3-5, but since I never do that it doesn't bother me.

I was wondering how people skipped gears when shifting. There's no way I can do it in my car bc like you said it holds rpms for several seconds. There have been times when I hasn't held randomly and it drops very fast, it will feel even stranger kinda like a down shift without a blip.

You all are talking about rev-hang, which is a function of the Dual Mass Flywheel as well as the ECM software programming.

It is basically to make less 'shock' when engaging another gear because not everyone drives manual transmissions well and Ford has to warranty them for sh*t drivers too.

You can double clutch OR you could pull the shifter out of gear without the clutch after unloading the drivetrain then clutch in for the next shift.

This.

It baffles me, considering it'd help reduce clutch wear and drivetrain shock, but these cars do not offer actual rev matching capability. Then again, Ford doesn't care about clutch wear.
