with the Horsepower, Torque and Weight finally being released did they mention anything about MPG?

Probably playing that close to the chest due to lawsuits now. I would want an estimated figure from Ford but I can understand them wanting to just wait on the EPA results

Ok that make sense. Hopefully sometime soon then. I'm happy they released the HP and TQ figures. I was hoping for 440 but I'm happy with 435

Actually, Ford wouldn't be waiting on test results from the EPA since they are the ones who test the vehicle and send results to EPA. So Ford should have a good idea of the fuel economy numbers by now.

This year's GT is 15/26. Next year's has a slightly torquier engine and an extra 50-70 pounds to deal with. No big changes, but if I were Ford I would love to be able to advertise increased fuel economy. Call it 16/27. (But you'll never get that with 3.73 gears.)

The 14 V6 is 19/29. Again, not much change though they are advertising less HP. Gotta wonder if it's really any different, or if this is like the 1993 Fox that got derated to 205 HP so the 1994's 215 HP would sound good. In this case it's the EB they are protecting. Call it 20/30 on a good day.

That leaves the EB. They'll be looking for it to be the mileage leader. But it's still got to move 3500 pounds. That makes more difference in the city cycle than on the highway. I think we'll see EPAs of like 21/32. But good luck averaging much more than the GT in the real world.

Don't expect the Ecoboost to meet those mileage numbers. I'd say it would be a stretch to see it match the mpg estimates for the V6. The 2.0 and 2.3 Ecoboost in other Ford models with vehicles of similar weight don't see the advertised EPA estimates for mileage. I think that realistically the EB 2.3 will see 18-19 around town and 25mpg with mixed driving. A new fill up and a complete highway trip may net you 29mpg if you can keep the speeds below 65mph.

I had 3 5 liter mustangs, they all had different cams in them, the 87 had the best cam, the 92 had 7 degrees less duration and was downgraded in HP, that was real.
I suspect that the V6 was downgraded in the ECU to give more MPG. I had a 2011 V6 and it was slow until 3,000 rpm, 280 ftlbs probably didn't come all in until 4500 rpm. The new 2.3 turbo will probably have boost at 2000 rpm and over a hundred ftlbs more torque down low and 40 more on the top, should be a lot quicker in real world driving.

Word is that the slight downgrade was due to revisions required to the intake manifold to allow it to fit under the new hood.

The new 2.3 turbo will probably have boost at 2000 rpm and over a hundred ftlbs more torque down low and 40 more on the top, should be a lot quicker in real world driving.

Full torque is available starting at 1500RPM.

The charge motion control valves and improved aero should help. I believe they have already said the mileage has been improved. But I would expect it to be a pretty minor increase as you indicated... probably 1-2mpg. But any improvement is icing on the cake if you ask me.

Exactly my point. The EPA numbers will beat the V6, but the real-world numbers will fall well short and will be closer to the V8. That's just how turbos roll.

Others may find that removing the valves improves high-end air flow (at least that's what happened with the Cobras) and peak power might go up a bit without them. So much to learn!

I was kind of disappointed when I heard about the CMCVs returning after the 96-98 cobra performance, but then I read somewhere, I believe it was the Road and Track interview, that this is a totally different design.

The 96-98 system had a butterfly blade like on an old school carburetor so even when wide open, it still blocked some air so HP improved at WOT when they were removed. Supposedly, this new design is some kind of flap or hinge design that folds down to the side of the runner completely out of the way at WOT so that it doesn't hinder performance. :clap2:
