Hey guys, I just ordered a GT 350 with the convenience package.
(not a daily driver). I plan on using it mostly on the back roads and the street. I would love to go to the motorsports track but I would have to be invited on special days as the memberships are expensive. My friend is really tearing into me about not getting the Recaro's.

Im 230 5'11.
I tried them out today at the dealership and had to practically tuck my sack up b/w my thighs. I had about 1 1/2 inched at the knees. The ones on my back were even worse. I thought they were nice looking and I do understand there purpose but without them being adjustable I had to pass.

Does Recaro make a single drivers seat that has adjustable bolsters?
Does it bolt right up? Would it be unreasonable to swap them out for a track day?

Thanks!

I don't think that you made a mistake, the convenience seats will be OK for any driving activity. I autocross and track my GT350 with the same type of seat and i have no problems with seat support. I am the same height and about 20 pounds lighter, so they may be a bit looser for me. I have had pro drivers take my car out on the track and they think these seats are fine for support. The Recaro's may be better for support, but what you bought will work OK for you.

Hey Style Don’t even worry about it !

I just bought a GT350 with the convenience package as well . I sought it out because the Recaros were not for me . Too tight for me . As soon as I sat in the ‘sofa seats’ , I knew I made the right choice , plus they’re cooled seats too .Yes the racing seats look cool , but you will be the one who has to sit in them for long periods of time . The Recaros are a much different seating position also . Butt sits low , knees come up high .

Also , The convenience package was harder to find near me . Maybe that will be the package people will want in the future ?

Best of luck !

I'm exactly your weight and height. The Recaros were extremely uncomfortable for me since I have wide shoulders.

I think the sofa seats will be totally fine for aggressive driving. I'm sure you can find a replacement seat on American Muscle or one of the other vendors out there if you decide to go that path..

Congrats on the car!

My car came with the Recaro seats. They were very uncomfortable for my wide body so I bought a set of 2015 Mustang 5.0 black cloth seats. Much more comfortable.

The seats mechanically bolt in but the GT350 seats were manual and the 5.0 seats are electric. The connectors are the same but the GT350 doesn't have any wires in the chassis side for supplying 12v and ground for the electric seats. It also threw a airbag light on the dash.

I've figured out the wiring for the power seats but not the air bag light. Today I visited the dealer parts department but no joy there. Then I got passed to the shop foreman. He brought the schematics up on his computer and made me some copies. However, the pinouts for the connector itself didn't identify the destination of the wires unless you put the cursor over each pin on the screen. He gave me some paper and a pen and I started writing in the info next to the pins. I needed to do this for both the 2017 and the 2016 so I could figure out where to move the pins.

I was about half way through the first set when he came back to his desk carrying big thick paper schematics books for both years. He loaned them to me so with a little luck I should have the air bag problem soon solved. I asked if there was a tool I could buy for releasing the pins so they could be moved and he showed me how to make a tool to release the pins from the connector. Hammer the end of a paper clip flat and use it to lift the lock holding the pin in the connector.

Thanks for all the replies. I am happy with my decision, my bud just got in my head. I mean, I sat in these seats and they are just a no go for me. Ill look into an adjustable track seat on days I go to the track.

Thanks

Funny thing is the Recaros seem to be too aggressive for the street and they aren't supportive enough for the track.
I'm 6' and 240+ and I'm too wide, but they aren't terribly uncomfortable. I think they're starting to break in.

I'm 6' and 235 my self with a wide back and i didnt fit in the suede recaros either, the convenience pack seats are just fine although I wish ford would have put the premium pack leather recaros from the gt in the gt350 as I find they look and feel fantastic.

I don't fit comfortably in the Recaros either. They were fine for the short track day at the Ford Performance event in Utah, but I wouldn't want to sit in them every day for commuting to work or especially on a longer trip. I think you made a good choice as the convenience seats are going to fit more people. For serious road course work it's probably a better idea to get a custom seat made anyway.

I'm 73 and my 2017 that we located last year new has the sofa seats. They have a new 2017 on the showroom floor with Racaros and I sit down it and said no way. Wow! glad I didn't go with them.

Seats are very subjective....I love my Recaros and have friends in both camps after trying mine out.....some smaller than me found them too restrictive

I agree with wrh3, seats are very subjective. I'm 5.7", I track the car, and I love the Recaros. They fit my requirements :)

OP, you absolutely made the right call. I'm 6' and 200lbs. I couldn't stand the Recaros. So uncomfortable and they make getting in and out of the GT350 a chore, especially when you use the car more as a daily driver. (I use mine about 3-4 times a week.)

Plus, the heated and cooled seats are fantastic, and the convenience package cars are much rarer (relatively), so I think down the road the GT350s with that option will be even more desirable.

If you're buying it for collectability, you're doing it wrong. If you're buying it for what YOU want, then the comfort seats sound like they are for you. I'm 6'1 and 220, athletic build and I love the Recaro's.
