Two more additions to this thread...........................

Meguiar's Hyper Wash D110 – A highly concentrated soap with a 400:1 dilution ratio that is aimed at professional or bulk usage. In the US market, Hyper Wash is exceptionally affordable, priced below something like Adam's Car Shampoo or Mega Foam. In Australia, the $95 RRP puts it above the excellent 4-litre NV Snow or 3.8-litre Optimum Car Wash.

According to the SDS, Meguiar's doesn't provide a number in their marketing information, pH value of Hyper Dressing is about 9.0 to 9.8. In in theory, this delivers increased cleaning ability and improved wash efficiency. The formula is biodegradable and can be used in a professional metering system.

Meguiar's claim of "rich, stable foam" certainly rings true, Hyper Wash blanketing the car with shaving cream thick foam. The scent is pleasant but somewhat muted, so it won't "out scent" a soap from the likes of KCx, Carpro or Gyeon. While not class leading, slickness is agreeable and cleaning ability impressive. The thicker consistency of the concentrate does require more diligence when mixing up foam cannon and bucket solutions. Due to that thickness, this is a soap I would highly suggest fitting a dispensing spout/tap, especially if you have a narrow foam cannon opening.

Overall, an impressive workhorse soap that I have enjoyed using far more than I expected. If you are looking for something different as bulk soap, Hyper Wash is an attractive proposition. Just wait until its on sale though.

Lubrication – 9/10
Cleaning Ability 10/10
Scent – Mild, Pleasant.
PH Level – 9.0 to 9.8 (Note – I recorded 7.89)
Consistency - Thick
Foam Quality - Thick
Overall Rating – 9/10

P&S Frostbite - Debuting earlier this year, this is an alkaline leaning soap aimed at ceramic coating maintenance or when additional cleaning power is required. Frostbite was primarily designed as a foaming pre-wash, the ultra-thick foam clings to the vehicle to soak, break down and encapsulate contamination.

In use, Frostbite immediately impresses with thick shaving cream foam, in fact this is the first P&S soap that actually foams properly. I have used this soap as a pre-wash and as a contact wash, its abilities on both counts average at best. Diluted, foamed and allowed to dwell as recommended, I found most of the road grime still on the paint. Frostbite is nowhere near as effective as Bilt Hamber Touch-less in this regard. As a contact wash, it's not the most lubricious either. The scent is quite unique, a "Eucalyptus-mint" aroma. Measured pH sits at around 10.77.

Overall, not a standout product in my opinion.

Lubrication – 5/10
Cleaning Ability 6/10
Scent – Mild, Pleasant.
PH Level – 10.77 (measured)
Consistency - Thin
Foam Quality - Ultra Thick
Overall Rating – 6/10

How does Hyper Wash compare with either Reset or Lift, in your expert opinion, D?

As it happens, I got to try Lift for the first time yesterday on a friend's pickup. He's a youngster just starting out with the responsibilities of adulthood, doesn't make a lot of dough working, and a couple weeks ago, picked up his first truck, a 2012 Silverado, that other than a bunch of mileage, was in pretty good shape, paint-wise.

I had told him when I first saw the vehicle that I would help him detail it if he was interested and, he was. So, he brought it over early yesterday morning, along with his precious little three-year old daughter, Casper, who he has custody of on weekends. She's a piece of work, believe me, but cute as hell.

I suggested she try out the pool, (to keep her from constantly bothering her dad and I with a million questions <laughing>.) She was hesitant to get in so I jumped in myself and in short order, I had her walking back and forth on the steps. (The pool is quite deep, even at the shallow end, and at her height, the steps were more than good enough.)

casper_240601.jpg

Back to the truck..

My friend has zero knowledge of even basic vehicle info and I had to show him how to do everything but, he was a good student. Showed him how to use the pressure washer, foam cannon, wheel brushes, etc., and let him do most of the work. FTR, I HATE the tires and wheels the previous owner purchased and those tires were really "browned up." Got out the mineral spirits and had him seriously scrub the tires. That got most of it and the OG Hyper Dressing hid the rest.

Like virtually all of us, his first experience "foaming" had him mesmerized. <grin> He'd never seen this done before. And speaking of soap and foam, I was impresed with Lift as it definitely got all the grime off the paint and left the clear coat super squeaky clean.

But, the truck had a number of small but pretty marred and scratched up areas so I got out the Rupes LHR21 Big Foot. (love that name <smile>) However, once I started polishing those separate areas, I knew that we were going to have to polish the whole truck to avoid the obviously glossier areas where I removed scratches.

I had started the scratch repair with a yellow, fine pad and Rupes Fine polish. Tested it on the back side of one rear fender first and I was very happy with the result as it flattened and shined up the clear coat beautifully.

The truck has some pretty deep marring in a number of areas so this was just going to be a "first pass" polishing effort. To get it to "car show gloss," I told my friend that the truck would require a second polishing down the road should he want to bring it to that level.

Anyway, once he watched me use the polisher multiple times, he wanted to give it a whirl himself. It took some coaching to fine tune his pad angle and pressure but he is a quick learner and in no time, HE was doing the polishing. <smile> I probably did two thirds of the truck and he finished the rest.

Got the paint all wiped down and since it was getting late in the day, I opted not to give it another bath so I had him wipe her down with Gtechniq Panel Wipe. We followed that with a Reload topper and Perl on the tires.

I desperately wanted to bring back the black vinyl body parts as most were horribly faded but, I was out of Wolfgang's Vinyl prep so I told him he could pick some up or, we could hit the black next time. Probably should have just used 303 but we really didn't have the time to "do the black."

So, here's the result and my friend was on cloud nine seeing how much better his new truck could look after ten hours of lovins. I was beat.

Nice one!

As mentioned, the consistency of the Hyper Wash is super thick, making it can be hard to dispense without making a mess. I've been using the Griot's twist spouts, but you could also use one of those pump action dispensers or chemical taps designed for 38mm bottle thread. Otherwise, decant it into a smaller bottle. And despite it being ultra concentrated, I still use about 100ml to 900ml of water in the foam cannon.

The truck came up great! Sounds like you may have created a new detail freak too.

As for Hyper Wash vs Carpro soaps -

Carpro Lift is a high alkaline soap with a pH of 12.0 and designed for occasional heavy duty cleaning or pre-wash foam. Carpro Reset is a pH balanced maintenance soap designed for regular use. Meguiar's Hyper Wash sits in the middle for cleaning power, it being mildly alkaline but still fine for regular use.

Cleaning Power -
1st - Lift
2nd - Hyper Wash
3rd - Reset

Slickness -
1st- Reset
2nd - Hyper Wash
3rd - Lift

Scent (subjective I know) -
1st - Reset
2nd - Hyper Wash
3rd - Lift (virtually scent free)

Foam Thickness -
1st - Hyper Wash
2nd - Lift
3rd - Reset

All are excellent soaps, two of which are direct competitors. For me, Reset is still the benchmark maintenance soap, mainly because of the superb balance of slickness, scent and cleaning power.

You just saved me a few bucks. I had Frostbite on my list of soaps to buy and try. I have never been a fan of any P&S Soaps, so not sure why this one would be any different. For a alkaline option, my go to still is CARPRO Lift or NV Snow+ so I will continue with those :) I do love KCx Active foam for a middle of the road option, it works great, smells fantastic too. I was so glad when they made a 1 liter option for that one..

Thanks D, and I think there may be a chance that Newman will "get the fever," but he IS a "Millenial" so no guarantees. <grin> That said, he does show good signs in that direction so we'll see.

Thank you again, your comparison list was over the top and gave me exactly what I needed to know. I'll be sticking with Reset and Lift when I really need the alkalinity power as I did on Newman's pickup.

Thanks to you as well, Alex and yep, Cas is cutie for sure.

The Hyper Wash got delivered today so i gave it a try and i have to say i liked it a lot , better than Gyeon Bathe i been using since i got my car . Foamed up a lot , very long dwell and finished well after wash and dry . It's a keeper for me in fact i might pick up another bottle to cover me for a few years . Again thanks for doing the reviews you do , it makes it so much easier for those not deep into detailing

I am quite sure that you and I are not alone, Pete, when it comes to just how helpful the knowledge, experience, and informative posts from the "High Priest of Detailing" are for the rest of us rookies. <smile> I have learned a ton and no doubt you have as well.

@DFB5.0 any experience with this stuff? I've read some pretty good reviews especially when it comes to foam production. Unfortunately for me, I don't have a pressure washer. Still curious on your thoughts.

Its a good entry level soap, but if you spend a few bucks more you could be in the heavy hitter range.

Like Brian said, the TW Hybrid Solutions line is pretty good for the price. BUT, for a few buckaroos more you can make a nice jump. I used some of the TW Hybrid Solutions Pro stuff before I moved up the ladder so to speak. I would consider it entry level compared to other brands but I would use it on my car (and I’m pretty particular like most in this thread).

I have no experience with it, I'm sure it's fine.

The one thing that I will comment on is the naming. Actually, Turtle Wax have a habit of this, throwing too many words at a product in the hope to make their product sound more impressive. Instead of something simple like Turtle Wax Pure Wash, or Turtle Wax Hybrid wash, they lump us with Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Slick-n-Slide Pure Wash. Too much Turtle Wax, too much.

In this case though, they call it "PURE WASH"....................but then state that it has polymers in it. To me, that doesn't constitute a "pure wash".

If you were wanting a more economical soap, I would go straight to Adam's Mega Foam, which is great in a bucket or foam cannon.
