I had an interesting conversation this afternoon with a person who has been with Ford for 42 years and he was told that the issue on the 2015 GT350 cars has been a hood alignment issue therefore the cars are not being released until this issue has been addressed and corrected.

As we all know these Shelby hoods are unique to these GT350 cars but I am not sure if I believe this information but that is the best that I have been able to come up with so far.

Hopefully someone can either confirm this information or has better information than I have come up with?

Well, hood alignment has been a sore point on both the GT350 press cars as well as the regular Mustangs. Wouldn't surprise me if Ford is trying to dial in the hood rests and latch to get a good fit. Some are certainly better than others, so a good alignment is possible.

I have been hearing through the racing grape vine that the 180 crank is causing a lot of vibration issues, cracked bellhousings, starters falling off, etc.
You would more likely crack the block before the bellhousing due to crank vibration. :gossip: <---- This is the problem here, Not crank vibration

Ok this thread is already a month old and no one has a car yet!?!

Since we're past the "any day now" when are the deliveries currently expected?

I can't wait to hear/see some real people feedback and driveway pics.

Ford has not issued the "OK to Buy". That is the current hold up.

Just wondering... where would see this when they do?

You don’t want to know
At the Track Tour at Road America today, I asked a couple of folks from Ford Performance what the true story is on delivery dates. The response I got was both telling and nonspecific.

1. The 2015s have been built, but none have been shipped. There was no further info offered.
2. Production of the 2016s will start in about 2 weeks.
3. Remember that Ford has to keep the Mustang line moving, and that for every GT350 that needs to get built, a huge number of other Mustangs have to get built, so Flat Rock isn't all of sudden going to spit out a thousand GT 350s.
4. Participants on social media outlets are overreacting to the production status (or lack of production) of the GT350s. Ford purposely has been very limiting in what it has said, and most of what people think they "know" is from sources that have no basis in fact.

Interestingly, Point 4 was confirmed by one of the largest dealers in the country, who is getting 16 GT350s. His advice? Relax...and wait for the facts.

Easy for him to say relax.... he's reaping in ADM's most likely for many of his 16 units. :D

I'd relax too of ka-ching was that easy to garner up.... 5k here, 10k there, etc. ;)

It's not my car, but I'd like to know why the 2015's have been sitting outside FRAP for 3 months.

Was told my order will be pulled and possibly a late oct , nov Delivery. Good news. Looks like they are getting ready to ramp up 2016 production. A Few other dealers told me the same thing about nov. delivery dates. In Atlanta we can drive all year long unless it's an R model.

Just curious why you couldn't drive an R model all year around in Atlanta?

I seriously doubt dealers know anything for sure. They are speculating based on what they hope will happen. There is certainly some reason for the delay over than "we have other cars to build"...otherwise, why sit on the 2015s?

That said, I wouldn't worry TOO much about it...It happens with a lot of new cars...a certain number get built before they find a production issue and they write a repair procedure then go back and apply it to the cars that are already built, before delivery. Once the wrinkles are ironed out, production is modified and continues. The reason for the delay should eventually trickle out..and if it doesn't, it's possible it's just what they alluded to - they are building Mustangs for the world now and they have launch dates to meet. They have an obligation to their stockholders and you can bet they are going out of their way to deliver these tens of thousands of cars overseas, on time.

I guess I'm saying, it could be for many reasons...some having nothing to do with the GT350. The only thing that concerns me is the 2015s sitting...why?

I don't think there is any defect or other issue holding the cars up from transport. Ford wants to control the media for these cars, and wants to keep attention on all of the track days they have booked on the calendar. As soon as customers take delivery, YouTube and the like will be full of real world video reviews and track numbers, and nobody will care about the activities happening on the remainder of the track tour.

October 12-13: Sebring International Raceway, Sebring, Florida

I expect the first customer deliveries will occur on 10/14 or after.

I thought of that too... I'm at Sebring for the last stop of their North American Tour. Maybe they can just bring mine there and hand it over to me as soon as the sessions finish (but not in my car!). :D

[/QUOTE]

The tires on the R model can't be driven in temps lower then around 30 degrees. That is why they will not produce any R models in the winter months. The tires will crack @ low temps. I'm not making this up. The Corvette Z06 had this problem and Ford and the tire manufacture learned from this. If you buy a R model you better have a extra set of tires if you plan on driving it in winter conditions.
