I seriously doubt dealers know anything for sure. They are speculating based on what they hope will happen. There is certainly some reason for the delay over than "we have other cars to build"...otherwise, why sit on the 2015s?

That said, I wouldn't worry TOO much about it...It happens with a lot of new cars...a certain number get built before they find a production issue and they write a repair procedure then go back and apply it to the cars that are already built, before delivery. Once the wrinkles are ironed out, production is modified and continues. The reason for the delay should eventually trickle out..and if it doesn't, it's possible it's just what they alluded to - they are building Mustangs for the world now and they have launch dates to meet. They have an obligation to their stockholders and you can bet they are going out of their way to deliver these tens of thousands of cars overseas, on time.

I guess I'm saying, it could be for many reasons...some having nothing to do with the GT350. The only thing that concerns me is the 2015s sitting...why?
When several dealers GM's are telling me the same thing maybe they do know something. When the Ford rep says your first allocations are coming up....so place your orders . I think that means something.

...and dealers aren't known for guessing things and wishful thinking?

I hope you're correct but the fact is, loose lips sink ships...and corporate is in the habit of NOT telling dealers everything on purpose...dealers can't even stop from spreading misinformation...you can forget them keeping a secret.

My main point is - Ford sends memos, not rumors through their regional reps. Until there is an OK to buy memo, they likely know nothing.

I don't think there is any defect or other issue holding the cars up from transport. Ford wants to control the media for these cars, and wants to keep attention on all of the track days they have booked on the calendar. As soon as customers take delivery, YouTube and the like will be full of real world video reviews and track numbers, and nobody will care about the activities happening on the remainder of the track tour.

October 12-13: Sebring International Raceway, Sebring, Florida

I expect the first customer deliveries will occur on 10/14 or after.
After attending the Track Tour event at Road America yesterday, I'd say the truth is 180 degrees from what you're thinking regarding the Track Tours. The Tour events easily could have added a lot more participants; at Road America, for example, there was a waiting list of more than 100. Ford Performance also announced that-based on the success of this year's events-it would be running more of them at additional tracks next year. FP also said it would not be providing any performance numbers for the GT350s, because it prefers to see the numbers from independent testers.

Just curious why you couldn't drive an R model all year around in Atlanta?

The tires on the R model can't be driven in temps lower then around 30 degrees. That is why they will not produce any R models in the winter months. The tires will crack @ low temps. I'm not making this up. The Corvette Z06 had this problem and Ford and the tire manufacture learned from this. If you buy a R model you better have a extra set of tires if you plan on driving it in winter conditions.[/QUOTE]

I have an R model on order but based on your heads up I certainly will not be driving it in the winter months.

Thanks for this important information.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

The stock Corsa tires on the LS have the same disclaimer. Hopefully you haven't been doing that either.

I only drive one of my Laguna Seca's and certainly haven't and don't intend on driving it below freezing.

Oh Harry you gotta drive these things! Open 'em up every so often... take each to the track even if you don't push it past 7/10th's. Let that Roadrunner rip! :D

It's all good... I have a theory. I think the FRAP folks are just hooning around in our GT350s. :D :headbonk:

Al, I agree that these cars are meant to be driven and I can tell you that when I get a chance I push them hard.

When I test drove both PP0001 and PP0002 I red lined both cars in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears and at 7500 RPM I believe I was doing ~93 MPH in 3rd gear and ~122 MPH in 4th gear? To many critters on the back roads in the South to go beyond that speed.

I used to do some amateur racing back in the 80's and 90's but then developed an inner ear issue whereby I would be filling real bad after a couple of hot laps so unfortunately I don't track any of my cars anymore.

The hot tire street/track tire back in the late 80's when I was racing an '87 Mustang notchback and an '86 Dodge Omni GLH was the Yokohama A008R and it was just and outstanding dry track tire at the time.

My source is telling me 2 ~ 4 more weeks before the OKTB is issued (Ok to Buy). No one will go into specifics. I suspect there has been an internal gag order issued from Ford.
