So it looks like my clutch gave out right before it turned a year's old at about 6200 miles even though it could just be the slave cylinder. Car when it's running won't go in gears but it'll drive if I start it on gear. The clutch dumped all the way to the floor and I had to pull it out with my feet. The car was mostly highway driven, never took it to the track.

So I took my car to two different ford dealerships. One shop is charging me $1000 to take transmission out to inspect the clutch for any burnt spots. Plus another $1000 + tax if it's the clutch. They said "most probably" warranty will cover it but they're not 100% sure until they take it out and send pics to ford.

Shop 2: Same thing as above except $500 to take the transmission out and $1500 + tax for clutch.

I'm kind of tight on money at the moment. Had to help out my family with funeral costs for my uncle, paid an installment on my university tuition, registration tags, school books, etc.

What would you guys recommend I should do? On American muscle I found this clutch for sale http://www.americanmuscle.com/exedy-mach500-stage3-grooved-1114gt.html.

Should I take the chance to see if warranty will cover it or just upgrade the clutch? I do have the extended warranty on this but it doesn't seem like it'll do anything. They did mention that if warranty covers it they will not charge their price of labor for taking the transmission out and all that stuff.
No way will I pay an extra $1000 or $1500 for stock clutch lmao

9/7 Update: Sorry for late update on this. Ford called me last Friday saying it'll be covered under warranty and ready this Friday. They're not charging me a penny, not even for taking the transmission out.
Got a call this morning saying the clutch is on back order so I'll have to wait a bit longer to get my car back

I feel your pain, going through the same issue except with my mt82 (2nd gear)
This is getting really bad with warranty claims

That's the slave cylinder... I had mine go out twice on my current car. Normally you can see the fluid leaking under the transmission (in my case, the 2nd time I didn't see any, but did the 1st).

The pedal falls straight to the floor and doesn't have any kick back so it just falls because it lost pressure, If the clutch went out the pedal would still come up and down, it just wouldn't go into gear.

Which slave cylinder did you buy and how much was it for labor?
I don't have room in my garage to work on my car for at least 4 more weeks

I am right there with you.

2016, 11K miles, 1 year old, clutch feels like it slips mid engagement.

I am terrified to let them tear it down under warranty for the chance they say its abuse.

With dealerships I'm always expecting the worst. Seeing how I'm having an awful experience with a 6.2k mile care and other people here as I well I wouldn't get my hopes up.

That's my weekend car and I'm missing driving it

I don't have an S550 yet so it was for my 370z... But I had it fixed at a friends shop in Dublin (now I think he opened his own in Livermore), It was $495 in labor but my aftermarket warranty covered most of it.

A CSC is not a typical wear item like a clutch is considered, so if it is infact your slave cylinder the warranty will cover it.

Oh I see. Well my ford dealership here in Stockton are being the worst.

Without even looking inside my car or anything they're now saying it's the transmission lmao. I'm going to get in a big verbal fight with them tomorrow in person. I haven't even authorized them tear my car out because I don't want to pay for a work that I will not be covered under warranty.

There's a bunch of Ford dealerships out here that will probably treat you better... There's Modesto, Pittsburgh, Tracy, Livermore etc...

Good luck though, If it is the transmission then it's not your fault... I'm fairly certain it's not the clutch but it's better to be safe than sorry if you're a bit strapped for cash.

Pick the $500 dealer. If it is the clutch, Pay the $500 and tow it to an independent shop and get an McLeod RXT/RST installed along with their flywheel.

Unless you severely slip the clutch or are fi i dont see how you can wear out a clutch within 5-10k. But your slave is out it should be covered 100%

Does not in any way sound like clutch failure.
