Hey y’all, over the past few days i’ve recently installed a new twin disc, slave cylinder, as my stock clutch was slipping.
Clutch wont disengage fully. It has been bled over and over again and not much seems to change. It drives, and if i shift very quickly after putting the clutch in, it shifts fine. If i shift too slow, hard to put in gear, grinds, etc. First from a stop is hard to put into gear, reverse from a stop is pretty much impossible. The clutch releases high on the pedal, and with the car in gear and the clutch pedal pushed down, the car tries to roll forward/backward like an auto. Trans went in without any issues, clutch discs aren’t bent. Any ideas?

Factory slave cylinder or something different? Did you bench bleed it or bleed it via pumping the pedal or vacuum pump?

Oem slave cylinder ordered from a ford parts dealer, bench bled before it was put in, pumped the pedal and vacuum bled

High mileage on the transmission? If so, how was it behaving before the clutch swap? Did you retain the factory flywheel and have it resurfaced for pairing with the new clutch, or are you running a new flywheel?

I’m not an expert in building transmissions, but I did just rebuild my 2019 MT82-D4. I wonder if your synchros could be in need of replacing? I ask because, although I wasn’t having any trouble out of mine when I rebuilt it, I did notice upon disassembly, that the synchros (center and inner rings) had wear that could be seen and felt on the gripping surfaces (carbon lining was gritty and rubbed off on my fingertips easily), as well as the coating wearing away on them. My tranny had very low milage on it too, (6300 miles).

Another question that comes to mind is, could your flywheel bolts be backing out and possibly be causing issues with the clutch assembly? Twin disc clutches (at least in my MT82-D4) were longer than the ARP bolts that I ordered to replace them, so I couldn’t use them. I had to order new OEM bolts for the twin disc, as it turned out, the ARP bolts were for a single disc clutch. See the difference here in this pic.

Everything worked smoothly beforehand, clutch just slipping during low rpm past like half throttle, no crunchy shifts, shifted like butter. transmission feels fine when the car isnt running, and its sitting about 113k miles currently. Clutch came with its own matching single mass flywheel, and flywheel bolts to match, was told to use stock torque specs, so these are the specs i used(attached photo). The included flywheel bolts were roughly half the length of the stock ones from what i remember(about the same as the shorter ones in your picture) I’ve pulled the trans twice at this point and when i pulled everything apart, the flywheel bolts looked like they hadn’t moved at all, and everything else looked okay, which is the confusing part

Copy that. How much of the bolt protrudes from the back of the flywheel? it was only about 1/4” on mine, so I ordered new factory ones. I felt there wouldn’t be enough thread engagement.

Stuck out about as much as the stock bolts on the stock flywheel did, so i felt comfortable using em
