My car had a couple of what seem to have been common issues when I took delivery (at least common in the pics people were posting of the 1st cars showing up on dealership lots) - the trunk lid looked to be misaligned, the driver's side front corner of the hood was lower than the quarter panel, and the front fascia (bumper cover) was not clipped in properly on the driver's side.

On top of that, and this one took me a couple of weeks to actually see, there's a paint blemish on the front fascia. The entire bumper cover will have to be repainted.

The dealership sent me to a local body shop to have them look at it. Upshot is that it's going in next Monday to have the front fascia repainted and the other adjustments made. Ford is paying for the work as a warranty repair.

On the cool side, the shop owner fixed the hood issue on the spot by adjusting the rubber bumpers that keep the hood from rattling around. The one on the driver's side was too low. He also pointed out that it wasn't the trunk lid that was out of alignment, but the driver's side tail light assembly that was out of alignment. After looking at it with him, I could see that the passenger side tail light was flush with the body lines all the way around, while the driver's side was pushed in and at a slight angle. This is what made the driver's side of the trunk lid appear to stick out too far at the bottom corner. There were a lot of pics of cars with this problem here on M6G when the cars were 1st hitting the lots, and now I guess we know what the issue was. Someone was putting the driver's side tail lights in crooked.

Well, at least everything is going to be fixed. Kinda worried about the paint job, but we'll see.

I feel your pain of the repaint my drivers door is getting done to fix a paint bubble, I have a dimple in the hood but they are going to try and buff it out or will have to repaint that also. Makes me nervous. They are also replacing the passenger side plastic molding on the inside, it looks like someone tried a half ass repair on it at the factory.

As long as the paint shop is a quality outfit, I wouldn't be surprised if the fix ends up invisible.

I have been very impressed with the paint repair from many different good paint/body shops that I've visited. Sounds like the people you are going to already know what they are doing, in that they were able to spot the tail light right away. Hopefully that bodes well for the paint, too.

Good luck!

Thanks. Yeah, I'm hoping it bodes well too.

Well, it's in the shop. I get it back on Friday. Good thing I'll be on travel for work Tuesday - Thursday.

So, got it back yesterday.

The alignment issues (driver's side front valence fitment, hood being lower than driver's side quarter panel, apparent misalignment of trunk lid (actually misalignment of driver's side tail light)) are all taken care of.

The paint issue that required respraying the front valence is fixed, but the new paint is a shade too light and isn't metallic enough. You can see the difference from 30 feet away. The shop is going to try again, hopefully they get it right this time. I'm a bit upset as I had specifically asked and been assured about their ability to match the metallic paint before deciding to have the paint issue fixed. I should have just lived with it.

Looks like Ford has not got their quality any better on the 2015's. I have a bunch of "quality control' issues on my 2014 GT but have learned to live with them vs having the dealer make worse.

Come on Ford, time to step up the game on QC!

That's one of the hardest combos to match. I went through something similar so I know the feeling.

At least you guys had a say in your car getting panels resprayed. I didn't and I wish they didn't :frusty:

My car is metallic and I've had great success at getting the paint to match
