Do you have a list of what you don't want your dealership to do when your car arrives? If so what is on your list.

My current list:
Vehicle remains in the show room locked until I get there
Do not drill front license plate holes
Leave plastic on seats
If it comes wrapped, leave it wrapped
Absolutely no test drives or miles put on the car unless it's from Ford themselves

My dealer is REALLY good about stuff like that. When I got my 50 years limited edition, they unloaded it off the trailer, then put it in the corner of their indoor storage area and coned it off. Then when i came to pick it up, they removed and prepped it while I was watching and asked for my instructions. Same will go when I get my GT350R.

You have it pretty much covered but would add the following comments.

1. Dealers typically deliver cars with a full tank of fuel which means someone may head on a joy ride to the farthest gas station around which adds unwanted miles and questions as to how your car was treated enroute so you may want to bypass this scenario if you want to keep miles off of your car?

2. Even though you may want your car locked in the showroom doesn't mean that the dealer will not detail your car prior to delivery. Some dealerships have good detailers but many do not so suggest to not have your car detailed and do it yourself.

3. Many times the dealer will have the window sticker removed from the inside passenger window along with all other factory stickers/decals on the outside of the car. Not a big deal to some but the window sticker can end up all messed up when removed by someone that doesn't care.

4. Most Ford dealerships will supply a second factory window sticker at no cost to you so suggest that you request a second window sticker as it is always nice to have a second one to frame or just put away in safe keeping especially if the one on the passenger window gets messed up. The dealership will have the second one sent to you from Ford usually via UPS.

5. Unless you want a dealership advertising decal or badge on the back of your car I suggest that you make it clear to them that a dealership decal/badge does not get added to the rear of the car.

6. Lastly, inspect your car very carefully during the delivery process as it is very easy to miss any marks, scratches, wheel rash, chin spoiler marks, etc. that took place at either the factory level or while in the possession of the transporter.

The above suggestions may not matter to some but may matter to others so each to his own but in any case good luck receiving your new GT350!

My dealer was great for getting gas! They gave me their gas card for a local station they use and told me I could get gas on my own.

Great ideas.

depending on when it arrives...

I want to be first to drive it...but will throw keys to sales manager so he can take it for a spin. Other than that....no front plate and no dealer badge. I want him to clean it up and get it ready to be admired.

I was talking to the sales manager a while back and he said...you are the only customer ever who tossed me the keys and said go ahead and take it for a spin (when you got your GT500)...they dont take customers cars for joyrides at this dealership...and it meant a great deal to him to try out the car....:ford:

I only have three things. I will try to be in town so...

1 - Call me so I can be there when it arrives.
2 - If it gets there before me, pull it off the truck and leave it where it sits.
3 - Once I'm there and inspect the car, they can do ONLY what is absolutely required (check fluids, tire pressure and such). Nothing more. Period.

I have arranged, no one will touch it, once it is off the truck.
If it has snow or salt put in parking lot, the will back truck up to bay doors.
Unload, do the paper work, safety, I will then load on My trailer and drive it home.

I ordered a '16 350. I will let them remove all stickers and detail the car. No front plate since SC does not require one and no dealer sticker on the back. I am still up in the air about the full tank of gas. I worked as a porter for a high end European dealer when I was younger so I can gurantee that the young 20 something porter will joy ride on the way to the gas station, I know I did. If I was receiving a '15 I would have to consider being more strict with my requirements.

As long as you're polite and make the request in writing delivered to your salesman you should have no problems. I doubt you'll get the showroom request as they have limited room and use it to display vehicles that aren't currently sold unless they really want to deal with the hassle of moving cars around just to do it again a day later.

The dealer prep is required by Ford, that just includes checking the fluids, and setting up your Sync. Otherwise if you tell them not to touch it they shouldn't. As far as delivery, that's not up to the dealership. The delivery truck shows up when it shows up. Could be morning, could be after closing in which case you probably won't know it's there till the next day.

The gas thing is easily doable...in fact my dealer asked me multiple times if I was sure I didn't want them filling the tank to which I was adamant they didn't.

This is the same process I used for both my Boss cars :)

Very important. I recommend you get on your stomach to look underneath and run your hands underneath the edges of the bumpers and sides. I've had two cars come in with undercarriage and/or bumper damage that would have been missed otherwise.

My salesman agreed to put a dashcam inside the car so I can review everything that happens after it gets off the truck. Fortunately he didn't call me crazy when I asked.
