High water mark for what? Design is subjective but what makes you think the 15 would go backwards in any respect to the 14? I expect it to be better in every metric except price.

Definitely design. As with others, this would include size. I'm on the"less muscle, more sportscar" side of the house.

If I'm able to get as s550, I'm going to own it for the next 20yrs. So I want something that I like to look at for that long.

Let's be honest. Even if we see the proposed 10% increase in price, the added "content" will be more than worth it. Increased engine output, CBIRS, better handling dynamics, etc. Will make this car as far as I can tell one of the beat performance bargains since the Terminator.

Like every outgoing generation, the 14's will be the most reliable S197s available. If you buy it for that reason and the retro styling, I'd say you made a good purchase. If you're buying it because you think the S550 is going to underperform it in any way, you are dreaming.

This is the 50th anniversary Mustang long in the making. Ford is going to want to brag about this being the most modern, best interior, most features, best performing, most fuel efficient Mustang ever. If they can't improve it in every respect they might as well continue making the S197. This isn't just about making shiny new things for the hell of it.

That is the deal breaker for me. Improvements across the board or go home. It's been 10 years, I don't think that's too much to ask for.

I'm with you. As much as I love them the current design is looking pretty aged. I plan to keep this for 5-10 years. A nice forward looking design I can grow into is a must.

Off topic but just saw the forum has tapatalk app support now. Good work admin

The dealbreakers for me would be...

Too heavy (i.e., weighs as much as or more than the S197).

Too long (i.e., overall length as long as or longer than the S197).

Poor visibility (i.e., as bad as or worse than the current Camaro).

I've been really looking forward to getting the 4 cyl turbo so a deal breaker would be if they dont offer the option or if they water it down with 270hp or don't offer any performance option upgrades with it. Hopefully it doesn't end up the red headed stepchild of the Mustang line up.

Some think Ford is going to ruin the Mustang by making it a world car. I saw an article online with this opinion and it suggested many may want to line up for the 14, as it may be the last "true" Mustang. They also cited federal regulations having an impact. I can't find the article now that I want to post it.

Deal breakers for me include:

- It doesn't lose weight
- It doesn't stand out enough from the rest of the Ford lineup visually
- Substantial price increase for a well equipped GT

Potential deal breakers:

- The car releases too late into Summer (September deliveries or beyond may be a deal breaker)
- A lack of improvement in quality/materials in the interior
- Poor visibility (as others have mentioned like the current Camaro)

Ultimately as many of you have stated already this is the big one. We really are expecting something special, and honestly, after all these rumors who can blame us? So hopefully Ford is ready to deliver, because if they do this Mustang has the potential to be one that gets talked about for a long, long time.

Too cheap - do not want every discussion to be the car is pretty good for the price, best bang for the buck, etc - just want it to be very good on its own merits against not just the camaro and challenger but BMW, Audi, Corvette, Porsche etc. for the SVT versions.

In other words the car needs to be complete package, good handling, fantastic engine, great performance, good interior, good looks. From the wonderful rendering and the directions of the rumours, this appears to be a good chance that the car will end up like this.

Why would anyone NOT want the Mustang to go global? For fear of it becoming a Eurostang? I am always amazed people don't realize the Mustang started off with European influenced styling and during several generations they borrowed heavily from European vehicles.

The fact that it will sell globally helps spread costs and gives the Mustang long-term viability, something it lacks now. Also adds whole new markets and customers and more international recognition. I really fail to see any downsides.

Dealbreakers?

- No track pack
- No recaros

Maybe we need to have a "desired options" thread, new and carryover from current MY

For me, deal breaker comes down to the two things that are very difficult to fix - weight and size. There is almost nothing they can do to this car to screw it up that you can't otherwise fix in the aftermarket. Even design --- there are some pretty mean Fox and SN95s out there that didn't have a lot to styling help from Ford to begin with (IMO).

However I refuse to have to gut my car to find ounces and pounds from creature comforts and features (that we are charged a premium for) when Ford should have found this weight in the chassis, materials, parts/components and excess body bulk.
