Hahaha, that's a busted fuel-line. Not a 5.4 issue.

From what I heard, the first outing was a bit rough. Apparently, they spent a fair amount of time collecting parts falling off the car. Getting a GT3 ready to really roll is no small ask.

Got a call from my buddy that is going to fly down to Sebring (in the next 6-8 weeks) to drive the GT3 for an invite onto the 2025 Sebring and Daytona programs. They have specific lap times he needs to hit during testing compared to the current pros testing the car. If he makes the cut It would require him to commit to race the GT3 next season in (most likely IMSA) and then be one of the 4 man squad in 2025 for the endurance races.

Not sure how much info he will leak to me after testing but I'll do what I can to get him to talk.

I bet there was some sort of unsupported AL fitting or something like that. It was probably the exact same on both.

Meh, Porsche had their 991 GT3's starting on fire too. Wasn't there recently a Ferrari that liked to catch fire too? I consider this normal in high performance cars.

GM car's don't start on fire. Second rate cars at best. Only the good ones sometimes like to move the combustion outside the cylinders

Hum, my guess is the Fuel test port that all sanctioning bodies require so they can make sure the fuel is not oxygenated or boosted. Could be the fuel rail or some fitting in the engine bay that failed at high pressure.

Not hard to over tighten the Aluminum Cap and crack it. Yes new race cars are have minor issues that can turn bad very quickly. All part of the process.

Slowdown...really cool about your buddy, that's a call that everyone dreams of and very few receive...best of luck and keep us posted as much as you can.

The fuel pump-out will be a Staubli dry-break. There won't be an aluminum cap. I highly doubt it broke. It might have been attached to a fitting that broke, but I'll bet it wasn't the actual Staubli.

Well, that's at least as big is a question! How the hell does the TPMS ignite a fire!?!

Race cars suck.

It sounds like everyone is confused. The entire TPMS system (probably a Beru) is a small radio box connected to the data wiring harness, a front antenna and a rear antenna. That's all there is. It's a tiny current draw normally. If the box shorted or wore through a harness, there should be breakers to limit the damage. It just seems like a strange part to blame, but because it is a strange thing and the team seems to believe it's so, I guess we should believe them. They're the ones that have actually put eyes on the damage.
