Lund Racing is a solid choice, really helped when I blindly lept into the gt350 manifold swap, and his customer service is top notch...nothing but positive things to say throughout the entire experience.

Thanks for the feedback. Knowing that each car is different I am surprised to hear more people leaning towards an etune versus one based on your car. Gives me something to think about.
a lund custom tune is still based on your car.

lund has spent a ridiculous amount of time dyno'ing cars, track testing cars. to find the right tunes for the right combos.

a lund tune is based off whats done to your car

no different than going to a dyno, just a lot less $$

As for the handheld device, I would highly recommend getting one, regardless of which way you go. I'm not sure where you live, but in my county in Texas, they run OBD scan at the yearly inspection. When I got my tune, for some reason Lund shut off the O2 monitors, and it wouldn't pass inspection. I had to remove the CAI and reinstall the stock airbox and reinstall the stock tune in order to pass my inspection.

1. Do I need a tuner if I get a custom tune at a local shop that has a dyno? Yep - been answered already though
2. How much better is a custom tune vs a canned tune from Lund? Lund is essentially a custom tune. Buy it, data log it, send it to them and they adjust. No different than some local shop with less experience. I went through 12 revisions before we got my tune dialed in (boost). NA I went through 3. Lund FTW!

I have a Lund tune and I am very happy. I have had several revisions done as far as 170* t-Stat update and some fuel/timing adjustments after data logging. Lund is in touch within 24 hrs usually unless it's the weekend.

Bought my N-Gauge and tune from Beefcake. Never a regret.

If you were to unpulg the engauge would the car simply go back to a stock tune.

All I can say is my Lund tune has my car running strong and smooth from start up, to idle, through mid-range and all the way to 7,300rpm's. No hesitation, no surging, no rev hanging, no bull sh*t, no nothing. I've experienced top shelf customer service even when I DIDN'T buy something from him, and sometimes my questions were answered on the weekend. For me, why would I want to risk a "custom tune" from a place that would (possibly) forget my name and wouldn't want to ever hear from me as soon as I walk out the door?

You could request all O2 monitors (tests) be left on in your tune. I'm sure they would be willing to do that for you.
I hadn't thought about that but I'm sure I would fail as soon as they plugged in the OBD reader.

I haven't got mine yet, but its on it's way, and I must say the customer service and communication has been first class. If you see this , thanks John.
once it arrives I'll put it on the car, so any tips or links would be welcome.
