Bama also has a flex fuel tune for the Coyote motors, and they do not advertise it on the website yet, and you will need a number of revisions to actually get it dialed in, and they don't charge extra 4 Flex Fuel tune at this moment. if you're interested talk Ryan or Brandon. Batman basically starts out like any email tuner, they give you a base tune and a couple basic revisions. if you actually ask them for certain things such as better throttle response more timing or VCT adjustments and revisions they'll actually do it, and a pretty nice about it. I got more than I bargained 4 at Bama in a positive way. another tuner I considered from hearing how well he works with others is Shaun at AED. Whenever I get around to go and boosted that's what I think I'm going to go to is AED.

They can definitely do that. With that being said, I felt at the beginning the shifts were a bit over the top, but as I have driven the car, it seems to have learned. The shifts became smoother as I drove bc it starts learn at partial throttle not to shift hard. Drive mode is smoother than stock I think, because it allows it to rev a bit and it doesn't feel like a lame granny car.

My shifts in S mode are pretty mild at partial throttle.

But when I stomp on it, it shifts hard and firm. In my case, the computer has learned and I have learned how the tune operates, so it's a nonissue for me. And the downshifts aren't to point where they're annoying.

I use the paddleshifters all the time and drive my car everyday of the week. The shifts don't bother me at all. But you can still request that they lower the shift pressure if you want. On the Bama tunes you can change the shift pressure of each gear, (1-2, 2-3, 4-5, etc.) yourself right on the SCT device.
Forgive my newbish question as i've only had my car for a month. So with a Lund tune is the engine mod toggle still active? Or does the new tune override all that as it seem it would?

the drive mode toggle would still work it would just be an enhancement of the tune that is currently flashed on the ECU.

Huh that's interesting ..... Anything than improves the stock short shifting is a win. The stock tune with anything but wot is blah to me.

yeah the stock tune drivability for just cruising around town really sucks

Bama may have improved but have a spotty record with the coyote platform over the years.

AED Shaun is a decent coyote tuner but he can be a major douche to deal with...beware.

Great input. I've got a 3.73 manual so a bit different, but, from our suspension discussions you and I are on the same page and so your input here on throttle response, engine braking and overall drivability are really helpful.

Your comment about the tune being worth the warranty void is particularly near and dear to me as I'm struggling with exactly that. I've decided to avoid the Ford power packs due to poor drivability and so it's either stay stock (which is very "meh") or go Lund and void away. The other problem with the power packs is that you're stuck with what you get while Lund will custom tailor the drivability per customer. This is the right way to do it as drivability is very subjective. More power is great, sure, but the way the power is delivered is by far much more important.
Yes my friend we have always been on the same page it seems. I appreciate your contributions to this forum.

If I had to do it over again, I would go aftermarket tune again. The grumblings about the Ford tune frankly scares me and this is from Ford! I'll gladly take a tuner who will work with me to do revisions. On the tunes I've had, they've all been fine and could have done without revisions if I had to but it was nice to get it dialed in.

The tune changes the car. It wakes it up. The first time I loaded the Lund FF tune, I broke the tires loose when I wasn't trying to. But it adjusts as you drive it as learns your driving habits. The shifts, drivability, throttle response and the power makes it worth it. From what I've heard, these engines are beasts and I think these tunes on a mostly stock car are safe.

I was afraid of voiding my warranty for good reason obviously, but I did research as best I could and decided to do it. So worth it.

I'm making the car a canyon romping, corner hugging beast. So much love this car. When I take it out for a spirited drive all my anger and annoyances of everyday life go away and I feel free.

I'm currently ironing out the tune with Lund. Still a tiny bit of knock at high rpm on 91oct. He suspects really bad fuel, so I'm switching from the Costco brand I'm running to Chevron and hopefully that fixes it.

I had Lund basically put my "D" mode back to stock, and leave S really fast/aggressive. Best of both worlds, as I can drive it like a luxury car, and then kick into S for racecar :D

Funny seeing AED mentioned: I reached out to him for a tune since he is local, and he basically brushed me off. Maybe he was having a bad day, or didn't feel like answering my 3 very simple and straightforward questions, but I've heard he's treated many people this way in the past so I didn't want to keep wasting time.

Completely agree with this. :ford:

Also a tip on the Lund FF tune -

Please load the fresh tune with regular gasoline (93 or 91) and then put in E85 later. Ask me how I know.

My engine was acting weird and revved all over the place. AFR spiked on me as well but luckily it calmed right down in short order and then idled perfectly.

It's just the first start with E85 on a fresh tune where it acted weird. So just warning others so they don't get scared thinking they've bricked their car. It's OK you didn't brick your car! Lol

I should also add that the tune tends to shift a tad smoother on E85 versus gasoline. A stronger smoother sensation between shifts. At least for me it does. It must have something to do with fueling I think. But yeah just trying to provide as much info as I can.

Thanks man! Hey have you thought about running 93 octane instead? Also you may want to try throwing a bottle of Lucas Fuel Injector/Fuel System Cleaner in there. When I had some knock issues with my Bama tune it helped some.

Here in CA we can only wish/dream about the 93 some of you guys have regular access to. We have 91, and not just any 91, but literally the worst quality 91 in the country lol

At least where I'm located we have a bunch of e85 stations, so I get to run FF/e85 vs the junk 91.

I'll keep the cleaners/boosters in mind, but hopefully won't need those to keep the car knock-free when not on e85.

Dang, CA yeah. Sorry to hear about that. Might just be bad gas but I'm sure Lund will get it straightened out for you.

I would run 93 octane on even my stock tune. I hope your E85 is cheap there.

I almost mentioned AED earlier because for me it's between Lund, JDM, and AED. If he is hard to work with then my choice just got narrowed down. I have an Injen intake and I'm sure it will require a few revisions. It's to bad. Ecause I heard his auto tune was the best.

Thanks for the heads up guys!
