Hi everyone. I'm thinking of trading my 2020 GT500 in on a C8 if I can get them down to msrp. It's looking possible at this point.

At any rate, what do you think the current trade in on a base GT500 is? It's a base 2020 car with a little over 5K miles and is in great shape. Iconic Silver, black stripes.

Thanks!

Not questioning your choice, just curious. Have you driven the C8? If so curious what your take is compared to the 500. I’ll leave my opinion out of it. As for trade, that’s a pretty loaded question. It just varies so much from dealer to dealer. With your mileage around msrp is where it should be, but if your getting the C8 at msrp I’d expect them to be 10kish back. Not sure about Fl, here the trade saves 4% on that amount toward the new ttl. You could sell it for around msrp out right without to much trouble if they low ball you.

2022 Base GT500 here in California are now going for MSRP. Used ones priced at msrp are now sitting on lots for over 120 days. Hard to predict what they may give you.

CFTP are getting about 10k over still for comparison.

A friend that is a Chevy guy said that the C8 is at MSRP, but you must buy some dealer 'options'. He said the wait is a year if he writes a deposit check today ($5000). It was a cash deal when delivered.

I haven't ever seen a GT500 on a dealer lot. I've seen them at car shows, but I can't walk up to a stranger and ask him what he paid for it.

Hopefully, the supply of cars will soon get closer to the demand.

Around here, used base GT500’s are listed anywhere from original sticker to about $10k over. Used CFTP’s are still listed well above original sticker.

I would see what’s listed around you via CarGurus, cars.com, etc and figure that dealers are going to give you about $10-$15k less than what they will list it for.

Hey, I'd tell you what I paid for a GT500 if you saw me at a Cars & Coffee.

Unfortunately, I don't have a GT500 and currently have $7 in my pocket right now. 🤣

I agree with you MAGS1, Rocky mountain area is in a similar market right now. I'd say best to follow the 10% rule; if the car has been sitting for 100+ days you could probably get it for 10% less than their asking price BUT it will take some teeth pulling to get them down.

Does cars .com actually find a car for that price with only taxes and title fees? There are no hidden fees?

Just asking as I've never used them.

Any additional fees or markups that aren’t provided by the listing dealer won’t be captured in a cars.com listing unless a dealer specifically includes it in their advertisement

Cars.com only shows what is feed to them by the dealers. You would need to contact the dealer for actual pricing.

I'd guess 15% down from original MSRP. Unless your local market is wildly distorted or otherwise insulated from broader conditions - eg. Las Vegas, Miami, LA (?) where there are lots of people with more money they know what to do with.

But your profile says NW Florida so I would expect your local market to be horrendous. Maybe you can find a service man at Pascagoula/Biloxi/Gulfport, Pensacola, Tyndall to pay way too much.

Just saying...So, the cars.com is a good place for dealers to lure buyers in for a hope and a prayer? This doesn't sound fair to me?

I think MSRP is a fair place to start for a new car in today's market (add the required taxes and the required title fee). Next year may be discounts off MSRP?
