I can see a curb alert system being very useful for some folks. However, I feel that with more time spent behind the wheel you will gain more confidence in parking.

I feel fairly comfortable how far objects are from the front end. I can comfortably park much closer to the curb than what the video demonstration provided with ease.

One other thing to point out though...I wonder how this system works with dips in the asphalt. You know the dips right before the curb. You really have to watch out for those dips! If not careful it can cause your car to move forward and the front end much lower to the ground and possibly on top of a curb.

Yeah, but... I've curbed the front splitter once, and am now really gunshy about parking head-in where there are curbs, because (unless the curb is REALLY low) the first thing on the car to hit is the splitter rather than the tires. And as a result I end up parking 6-8 inches away from curbs, and having to get out multiple times to check how close I am until I get it within 1" so I don't get my rear end clipped by cars going by. It would be a nice thing to have.

Let me clarify. I'm not concerned about the splitter or the entire front-end. Back in October I was but now in February those fears have faded...I feel very comfortable with the dimensions of my car. No different than my old 79 or 95 Trans Am with a long hood, I park in a 12x24 packed full of sh!t. I can't even open my doors all the way. I have padding on the walls to protect from door dings. I also have a mirror that displays the front-end and a self created curb alert using wood on the concrete. I don't even use those anymore as it's like second nature. Because I just changed out exhaust, my stock exhaust is on the floor. My front end is completely over the suitcase. It's real close!

My point is...this is a great aid but after time it'll become an unnecessary accessory.

Just take my word on this, a good curb alert system is nearly impossible to design in a way that's affordable. i know of some people that did simulations on that, and concluded you would need at minimum 5 ultrasonic sensors to do it robustly given all the different sizes and shapes of curbs.

Conversely, one good camera mounted at the bottom of the front splitter would work.

It's not that expensive, so I ordered it...I'll find out if it works as promised.

Now, after I train my Wife how to use common sense (:ninja:) combined with the curb alert, I'll try and not worry-->

Seems like the Corvette gets a lot of hits when searching this type of item.

I found this video while searching...I'll mount the sensor, sort of like he did, in the lower grill area on my PP-GT.

It's not a bad idea.

I haven't had a problem on a GT Premium with the stock 18" wheels. The splitter is a good inch above parking blocks (they are a standard size usually)

I guess if you dropped the ride height or something, but otherwise you should be ok really in this car. I dont think with the PP your overall ride height is any lower.

Depends on where you are. Some places have differing heights on the stops.

Listen guys, it's not like we are parking a miata here. I wouldn't call the mustang a small car. The hood is pretty long too. Front sensors would be nice but i would rather have a front camera or 360 camera that a lot of luxury automakers have. Those are truly wonderful, especially for parallel parking. When you live in the tri-state area you sometimes don't have the luxury to take your time parking, you have to do it quickly and efficiently. Has anyone looked into hooking up a front camera? Is it possible with the OEM headunit? I wold rather a camera so I can literally see the distance rather then the beeping which seems to go off way before even hitting anything.

Bro.. u said it... LUXURY AUTOMAKERS... when you put all those gadgets in the car.. the car cost go up... and plus... ALL curbs are of different sizes...

BUT yes the camera suggestion is nice... we can put it in grill or somewhere...

Except when you see one of these:

I have never ever seen one of those signs in all of my travel... Interesting for sure. That's probably something new for the truck guys that practice the back in parking for the quick getaways. lol
