Last winter my car did this when it was covered with heavy frost. Makes me wonder if a bug on the windshield could do it. Isn't the eye for this on the windshield ?

I manage a collision repair shop.

The pre-collision warning and/or automatic emergency braking uses either the windshield mounted camera, or a radar unit in the front grille or bumper area. Speed sensing cruise control also pulls information from either of these units.

Most of these systems require re-calibration if the windshield is replaced or the front bumper is removed, repaired or replaced. Some systems are so sensitive that a non-OEM replacement part, or a repair or too much paint in the area of the sensor will set an error code. Excessive dirt, debris or snow/ice can also cause a problem.

Damn cars these days are getting too complicated.

You can't calibrate those systems on your own. It has to be done at the dealer or by a calibration specialist company that has the OEM software and specific targets for the radar and camera. Here on the west coast it costs anywhere from $180 to $500 or more per calibration.

Have you recently had a windshield or front bumper damaged/repaired or replaced?

Even if im making 1000whp, they can Calibrate it? It don't have to be stock? And the only thing I've done im was remove the front bumper a couple times but it's never done this, removed it to unplug the radar under the bumper and plugged it back in and it's still showing bumper is clean windshield is also clean so idk😭😭

dealer or brand-savvy repair shop.

But personally I just put duct tape over the camera. F'm. I KNOW how to drive.
Well it sucks because I need this to use my cruise control button to switch maps and since this is an issue I can't switch maps until thus issue is fixed or I do it before the car turns on

removed it to unplug the radar under the bumper and plugged it back in...
It needs a swift kick in the ass, General Patton style. You can only do that with the factory software to force it into "git er dun".

If you unplugged the radar sensor it will need to be calibrated to get the light off and restore system operation.

No I unplugged it once it was giving me the issue ,and I've unplugged it in the past and never gave me this issue, I think this is something else like a faulty sensor or something never dome this before
