Driving home this morning I suddenly see my windshield crack in front of my eyes, I didn't hear anything hit it, so I don't know what happened...does anyone know if this would be covered under my warranty? From the pic I took, it looks like there might be an impact point, but like I said, I didn't hear anything hit it...

Looks like it took a rock to the lower portion. May have happened earlier. I doubt it'll get warrantied as you can see it broke due to debris hitting it.

Safelite might be able to repair that without replacing the whole windshield

My insurance company replaces any and all glass components for a 50 dollar deductible, and that includes tail lights, headlights, side windows etc. may be worth checking your carrier to see if you qualify.

Can I ask why you thought this type of damage would be covered under the new vehicle warranty? I mean really.....

Sorry to hear this happened though, your insurance shold cover damage with a small deductible and it should not affect your rates per legislation.

Check with your insurance. Most states require them to repair your windshield without raising any of your rates, etc.

In fact check with Safelight, sometimes they just bill the insurance directly and you never have to pay a thing due to your insurance/state laws.

Insurance claim. I'm pretty surprised it cracked from that tiny rock hit. Hope the windshield isn't a weak link.

Most insurance will not cover factory oem replacement either. Only aftermarket unless you want to pay the difference between the two.

The reason I thought it might be covered is because as I said, when I was driving home, it just suddenly cracked, nothing hit it, and I thought maybe it was caused by some kind of defect. After looking at it, and seeing the tiny hit point, I realized that something must have hit it at some other time, and it finally cracked. I've never had a brand new car before and when thinking about it, I initially thought that it covers everything. I am however pretty concerned by the fact that something that I couldn't even hear hit the windshield, and it cracked so easily....

Maybe you had the stereo cranked up when something hit the windshield, so you didn't hear it happen.

That's no good, sorry you have to deal with it.

I took a rock back in December. New windshield was $496. There wasn't a third-party glass available then, might be now, but I ended up with Car-lite just like it came with. Of course, I have a $500 deductible so it was all on me.

Yeah good luck hopefully you live in a state where glass is covered or you have a cheap deductible. Thankfully I have a 0 deductible on glass, been through my share of windshield replacements.

That will need to be replaced. Safelite can fix small crack and stars. Anything
longer than a dollar bill gets replaced with OEM Ford glass. I
know as I had mine replaced about a month ago. Same thing, small rock
and then growing crack. My insurance covered it as comprehensive and no
deductible here in South Carolina. 45 minutes is all it took and they did a
great job. Actually vacuumed my car and washed the windows.
