Recently discovered cracked window switch buttons.

I am now on my second set of door handle switches.

First one had a bubble of plastic
Second has this cracking/spidering.

Internet shows some people online with other ford models experiencing same issues. It's covered under warranty.

current regiment
wipe down with car pro inner qd
Dress with Koch chemie top star

anybody experienced this or similiar?

Man that sucks, I'd be upset.

All of my 2016 switches are original and none have cracks. I do a full clean of the interior once per year with an interior cleaner, no coatings. Only things that show noticeable wear on my interior are the steering wheel and driver's seat.

Do you press the buttons a lot? Is your car used a lot?

Nope. No harder than any other car I drive and have not had similiar experience. This is a weekend toy. Driven once a week. Soooo 10k miles in 2.5 years.

I would wonder about the chemicals as well. But I use the exact same ones. I use Inner QD or ADS Pilot on mine most recently and Top Star as a dressing as well. Have only done the Mach 1 once since getting it a month ago, 5000 miles. But, my 22 GT had 23k miles and I cleaned and dressed it multiple times the same way. Sometimes I would use the all in one solution of P&S Swift (clean and dress all in one)...

I have used PS express for deep clean maybe 2-3 times since owning but the last time I did that was maybe April of this year. This is a recent discovery.

I really like Express but have never had the need to use it on the Mustang. I use it on my daily driver though, I drive it 40,000 miles a year so it needs a deep clean every few weeks. Especially the steering wheel, it gets nasty as I service office machines and the toner and stuff gets on it no matter now many times I wash my hands. Plus stuff on the leather seats too... I also have Carpro Inside, but it is really strong...

I could see where Express might be strong enough to damage something, might want to try KCx Polstar diluted down 10:1 or so, I have that in my back pocket for lighter and safer cleaning...

Ridiculous-Ford should be able to source switches that can withstand regular cleaning. Trying to blame it on you cleaning your car.. **** outta here

Besides, even if it were a chemicals issue, you'd see blistering, bubbling etc not cracking like that.

I will say the dealership has been cool and it's getting replaced.
The question is getting raised which concerns me of the future cause warranty is up in a few months.

I dont use any chemicals on plastic surfaces at all they are high risk to finish and longevity. I just use damp microfibre to wipe down and I do it a lot in a convertible.

I'll bet money it was the APC chemicals. The strongest one I use on the interior is Invisible Glass unless I'm cleaning a stain on seat fabric or similar.
I do use glass cleaner on the windows. Outside of the regiment described. And I do that last. All very interesting

I know VW in the past was VERY sensitive to chemicals. You could breathe on them wrong and they would crack, peel and turn into a puddle of sticky goo. Back in the early 2000's. Their soft touch stuff was just that.... SOFT. Was nice at first... But the switches on the Mustang are hard plastic for the most part... Very strange.

I didn't use to pay attention to Ford's cleaning recommendations. I'll start paying closer attention. Sorry OP that you had to be the one to prompt me to do so.
