Hello, everyone. I enjoy the forum, but mostly am a "lurker". Long intro, sorry

I have had Shelby's in the garage for going on 30 years of my life, yes, I'm old! I recently sold my ex race car 1966 GT350, several other cars ( including my two beloved 1995 Saleen S351 R cars) and a 2003 6 speed manual M3, and 2000 M5 with 240K miles on the clock on the original clutch, to make life a lot easier, with less "car care". For each car, I am hopelessly a collector. I bought every weird spare part I might use to make long term ownership, easy and to satisfy my need to collect things. A small window into my world, I own 13 watches, so there you go. I had 4 sets of Saleen magnesium speedline wheels, I have a reall collector issue.

So, the cars are gone, and I found a 2017 R model with 31 miles, 90 miles away, owned by a famous NASCAR owner who loves Corvettes if that tells you anything. Boom, send the car a deposit, show up 3 days later, drive it home. I knew I was destined to own an R, so I have per purchased a set of replica wheels , with new tires, to await the new car coming home. Doesn't everyone buy tires and wheels for a car you have yet to buy? No, reasonable people don't.

Get it home, immediately remove the Carbon Fiber Wheels and tires with about 200 miles on them and place them on a garage shelf with cupped holders, to avoid flat spots.

Oh, I had also bought a new set of carbon fiber wheels. They have never been mounted, I only opened the boxes to be sure I was buying the real deal!!! All original Ford boxes, packing material, labels, order number on one box for 1 set of wheels. Really no good reason, I just thought I might need them. What a dummy, so now I am adulting ( at age 62) , and would like to sell the new in boxes Carbon fiber wheels.

So now finally, what is the current real world market value for a set of new R wheels.??? I guess I have two sets for sale, one with tires!! Any thoughts you might have, are appreciated, thank you. And yes, I am still unloading Saleen S351 R and 1966 Shelby parts, heaven help me!

Can't say I know the current value, but I would NOT separate the factory carbon fiber wheels from the car. Sell the spare set, but keep the originals. Each wheel is tagged to the VIN of the car it shipped on.
Yep, thanks. I don't really want to sell the born with set, but your VIN reference has sealed it, only the spare set is for sale. Is 16K a reasonable number? 16K may be too high. Not sure Thank you

Go take a look at the classifieds section here on the forum. Need to look into the GT350 section & find some past /currant ads for CF wheels. Might shed some light on value.

Being just a tick older than you, consider getting a couple sets of these stud extensions for use with your wheels. Way too many back issues over the years for myself & these really make a difference. "www.ReverseLogic.us" name brand. Quality tools!

Thank you very much. Why would I need the stud extensions?

Multiply what you paid for them by 10% and go from there. Take whatever reasonable offer comes your way.

Stud extenders help ‘feed’ the wheel onto the lugs without ricocheting them off the calipers, rotors..

Contact the owner & get on his list. This is how I went about it. May take a few weeks but well worth the wait. I liked the idea of two sets for rotating. HTH

Value seems to fluctuate. I sold a single very lightly used front for 2K. Seen as low as 1700 or as high as 4000. Ford values at 6000. Unless you need the cash, ya may want to leave em where they are at.

Probably good advice. I think they are out of production? If yes, they values are probably going to rise, at some point.

I would suggest that Carbon Revolution/Ford has a decent amount of inventory for the 19" X 11" (front) and 19" X 11.5" (rears) CF wheels for our 2015 to 2020 R models but do agree that CR has probably stopped production of these wheels and only are producing the 20" exposed CF wheels for the GT500 model at this time.

Based on your original post which outlines your long history of being around various brands and models of high performance automobiles I would suggest that you might just get by in the short term without the funds received from the 4 CF wheels therefore suggest that you hang onto them for future use or rise in value as present inventories are depleted down to very low levels.

On another note how about some pictures and details of your very low mileage 2017 R model?

Being domiciled in Florida I would suggest that your car came with the Electronics Package and is not a Base R model and based on it's original ownership I am curious about your chassis number and paint/stripe color scheme?

Great, thank you. Yep, I will maybe advertise them once and see, then stash them away if I get no real bites.

Here is an imgur post (several photos)

of the car. White, blue stripe ( like Shelby 6S100 that I owned for a LONG time)

And, one of 6S2166 parked next to the new girl, HR271. Full electronics package, now with about 750 miles.

6S2166 was a really fun car. Original 289 removed, converted into a race car maybe 30 years ago. 302 R block, stroked to 345, Canfield heads, 490 RWHP. Scary fast and at 62, I had stopped driving it for its primary purpose, so it left my garage after 21 years.

I was told that was not the case by CR. The wheels have an RFID chip embedded into them, but the wheels are not serialized to the car.
