Hello, everyone. I enjoy the forum, but mostly am a "lurker". Long intro, sorry
I have had Shelby's in the garage for going on 30 years of my life, yes, I'm old! I recently sold my ex race car 1966 GT350, several other cars ( including my two beloved 1995 Saleen S351 R cars) and a 2003 6 speed manual M3, and 2000 M5 with 240K miles on the clock on the original clutch, to make life a lot easier, with less "car care". For each car, I am hopelessly a collector. I bought every weird spare part I might use to make long term ownership, easy and to satisfy my need to collect things. A small window into my world, I own 13 watches, so there you go. I had 4 sets of Saleen magnesium speedline wheels, I have a reall collector issue.
So, the cars are gone, and I found a 2017 R model with 31 miles, 90 miles away, owned by a famous NASCAR owner who loves Corvettes if that tells you anything. Boom, send the car a deposit, show up 3 days later, drive it home. I knew I was destined to own an R, so I have per purchased a set of replica wheels , with new tires, to await the new car coming home. Doesn't everyone buy tires and wheels for a car you have yet to buy? No, reasonable people don't.
Get it home, immediately remove the Carbon Fiber Wheels and tires with about 200 miles on them and place them on a garage shelf with cupped holders, to avoid flat spots.
Oh, I had also bought a new set of carbon fiber wheels. They have never been mounted, I only opened the boxes to be sure I was buying the real deal!!! All original Ford boxes, packing material, labels, order number on one box for 1 set of wheels. Really no good reason, I just thought I might need them. What a dummy, so now I am adulting ( at age 62) , and would like to sell the new in boxes Carbon fiber wheels.
So now finally, what is the current real world market value for a set of new R wheels.??? I guess I have two sets for sale, one with tires!! Any thoughts you might have, are appreciated, thank you. And yes, I am still unloading Saleen S351 R and 1966 Shelby parts, heaven help me!
