So after my last detail job, I found out there were still some scratches and swirls my polish wasn't aggressive enough to remove. After putting in all the work, I wasn't going to leave it as is. This time I decided to go all in and do a ceramic coat.

Prep was a bulk of the work...9 hours total:
Two bucket wash, iron x chemical decontamination, clay, three stage polish (full cutting compound, medium polish and finishing glaze). After drying, full wipe down twice with CarPro Eraser (basically an isopropyl alcohol product with additional stripping properties to make the paint completely clean).

From there, two hours or so were spent applying the ceramic coats (2 total) and their sealant spray. I can't drive it for 24 hours while the ceramic liquid cures into a solid glass shell that lasts 2+ years.

All in all 11 hours of work total. Worth every penny and the hours to make sure it came out as good as possible. Pictures don't do it justice... Literally looks like a sheet of glass on my car (which is exactly what it is)...pics don't do it justice.

I’m going on year 3 with my c quartz 3.0. Granted it’s a garage queen and only about 3500 miles a year but still looks like the day I applied it. Great job on yours. You’ll love it.

Thanks guys!

Seriously, if you're on the fence or considering doing a ceramic coat and are comfortable detailing, have patience and willing to put in the time for proper prep (prep is EVERYTHING), this is completely DIY-able.

I'll be keeping this up with CarPro's Reset wash, reapply Reload every 1-3 months and using their Elixir QD for basic maintenance washes, which I expect to be far less frequent with the water beading this is supposed to provide. CarPro claims the car essentially self-washes during rain storms at highway speeds especially and should not require contact washes nearly as frequently. Another huge selling point.

Looks great!

Are you going to use beadmaker for a keep up then?
Not beadmaker specifically, but I plan to give it either a coating of Gliss soon or just use some Essence Plus every 6 months or so. I am actually using Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Detailer, which is amazingly great as a topper. The gloss is amazing with just that applied once.

Google autogeek forums blue juice detail spray for ceramic coatings. It's a great concoction.

Looks great!! I will be posting my results from my detail as well. I used slightly different products rather than the actual ceramic coating, I opted for turtle wax ceramic spray coating.

I used Cquartz on my Magnetic and it made the paint jist look so deep. It put on a thick
Gloss shine that i can see even with dust and dirt on it , just flat out made the paint look better and not so thin. I put it on 6 months ago and did 2 coats.....it looms as good today as it did then. Pics dont dont do it justice , the reflection is amazing. Sorry the car is filthy!

do you have to use the sealant spray? I m getting ready to coat this weekend with CQ 3.0 & GLISS.

also did you coat the side skirts and splitter as well?

How long does that last? I want something relatively easy to apply. I honestly don't have the patience to do a full detail like the OP, but it shouldn't be needed just for protection, no? I could maybe clay the car, but hope even that is not necessary :D. After a professional detailer messed up my brand new Porsche in several locations a few years back while doing a paint correction (prior to applying PPF), I decided never to do it again. I drive my cars, so rather have the extra protection of a thicker clearcoat, than no 'orange peel'. I'm not going to spend 2 grand to put PPF on a freaking Mustang, so ceramic coating might be the best alternative for the money. Just need to find the cheapest but effective one, and do it.

Skip the reload and sealant spray stuff and just put on the gliss. I did 2 coats uk3.0, and 1 coat gliss. On black don't even have to dry it after washing, either touchless auto wash with blow job, or hand wash at home and leaf blower dry not a water spot in sight.
