For all the tuners out there, can you get an engine to run cooler at high RPM using a tune? I have a GT350 that I do track days with and if it spends too much time at 8k RPM the head temps get too high, and it goes into limp mode. Does anyone know if it's running really lean up there and can it be 'fixed'?

Are you running the stock thermostat firstly?
Have you tried water wetter yet?
A tune to keep the radiator vents open and to trigger the fan at a lower threshold, say 195f I would think would be beneficial.

Running it lean does the opposite.

You can run it richer and maybe a bit less timing but that won't do much. The only way that just a tune will keep your motor cooler is if you switch over to an E85 tune.

Otherwise there are many mechanical cooling mods that can be done to the car to improve track temps. There's a whole track section here that discusses many of these.

Try installing a Davies Craig EWP 150. You can have full control over your cooling system with it.

I just opened up the back side of the oil cooler, put in large mesh screen, put canards on, and made sure the ducting in front had a good seal. It seems to have helped. I've never had an issue with water temps even with ambient temps in the 100s.

Another thing, if you shift at 7600-7800, it really helps. And should help the motor stay together longer in theory. Didn't work for me, but some folks claim it does.

There are multiple build threads to address cooling here and TMO. Googling your problem should get you there. From water wetter to the full on gt4 oil cooler (Setrab).
