Then it's definitely a no brainer. Whats the plan, stan, eh, uh, Cindy?
LOL! I gotta have 'em. But...*gulp*...I'm kind of suffering a bit of shock after plunking down all that cash on the wheels and tires. Gotta regroup and have a drink before I spend any more money. :eyebulge:

Lol. Definitely not a poor man's (or woman's) sport. When it's done, it will be yours. Now, what about aero? (R splitter and wing)?

If it makes any difference, my track pack realized the greatest performance potential with wheels and tires. Aero does help, but the tires/wheels are the biggest difference.

Mounted the C2C wing last year and have just ordered the R splitter.

I'm looking forward to it!

Why stop now, Vorshlag plates, R springs, R swaybars, Watson roll cage, schroth harness, and don't forget the zl1 titanium tow hook.

Oh, I forgot, you are on a budget :D

Question - if going with the R front hubs with longer studs, are there any recommendations for lugs to use with the stock wheels?

Planning to go with a 19*11 square 305 setup in the summer, maybe the 10spoke from NFS, so might want to do that beforehand.

Open ended lugs is all I know. I'm about to delve in to this as well as I have ordered the hubs.

I was concerned about the lack of information about torque ratings for aftermarket lug nuts so I use an OEM GM open ended lug nut PN 9595174. GM rates them for 140 ft-lbs in the owner's manual for the car that they are used on. 140 was close enough to 150 for me.

I like to disassemble things.
Ask the nut manufacturer what standard they were made to. If you don't get a clear answer - move on and either try to obtain the data elsewhere or try another manufacturer. Bottom line is that somebody designed the nut you are considering and either engineered it to meet certain industry accepted standards - or they didn't.

A typical engineered lug nut drawing. In this case, one drawn about 20 years ago in a 1/2" x 20tpi size. Note the material and grade.

The SAE has data regarding passenger car lug nut standards. It isn't free but is exactly what the aftermarket should be considering when designing and selling lug nuts. You can find out more at the following link.

Look up MSI racing. They sell quality lugs and nuts. They aren't cheap though. Good luck with that budget.
I just had R-spec length studs made by Curtis at MSI. The price is above ARP studs (I re-used my stock hubs and pressed the new ones in). Love the results over the junk OEM stuff. I kept the R-length in front because I swap my CF wheels on for track duty. On the aluminum wheels below, the length is a bit obscene but it's easier to swallow than swapping hubs every track day. These R-spec studs are not on MSI's website, so call Curtis direct if interested, tell him Justin sent you.

^^^ MSI is good stuff. I would say better than OEM. I use thier lug nuts and almost went the stud route back when I had my track pack.

Curtis is a great guy and a true gentleman. The 4340 brake caliper studs Caliperfexion sells are manufactured by him and he does a fantastic job with them. He's easy to talk to and always considerate. He's definitely the guy I'd be going to for hub studs such as what you did.

I love the fantastic info shared by other owners, so thanks everyone :) I plan on doing R studs to go square setup for track use... but I'll definitely be ordering studs from MSI for when the OEM studs inevitably break.
