Any other Convertible sound issues (drone) w/ exhaust mods?

I'm curious if anyone (any engine, any level of mod) with a convertible has done exhaust mod(s) that gave you drone. Especially if you know of coupes that have done the exact same mod and reported no drone. Or if you know from previous experience with other convertible/ hardtop combos if this is a phenomenon. I may well just have some other very small variable I am unaware of yet, that was enough to cause this.

I have no idea why exhaust drone should be different between hard top and convertible BUT, I seem to have that scenario in my V6. I read and hear videos and the few others w/ V6 coupes who have gone with my same set up, do not report drone. I even rode in Russian's hard top in person (no drone) before I bought my Magnaflow 11365 mufflers & 4" i.d. 35136 Tips. Russian does have BBK Shorty headers, but the consensus seems to be that headers should not change or affect drone. I will likely add BBK Shorty headers, but am holding off to meet w/ Russian now that I have the same Magnaflow muffler and tips as he does. Monday, we'll drive in both for back to back comparisons and of course a second set of ears/ opinion too!

If you want to hear my exhaust set up, you can do so here:
Post #34 is shows drone inside car with top and windows up.
Post #33 have exterior idle/rev before and after videos. Plus a fun drive way acceleration and drive by.

What tint percentage is that? Did you do the back window the same?

Great picture. Good way to show tint Too! I am considering 50% or even lighter form my convertible. I want to see what it looks like more subtle than 35%.

Are those the factory 20s with painted black inside? That looks fantastic!
Thanks. The wheels are Niche targa staggered 20 inch. 20x8.5f - 265/35/20, 20x10r - 285/35/20, lowered on the Eibach Pro kit. Sorry, I should've posted the specs with my pic.

Thanks. It's 35%ceramic tint all around, and the 5% strip on the windshield.I really prefer 20%, but decided to go legal..so far so good.

A few pics after adding CDC lightbar and washing. ;o)

Not sure if I am getting the artistic backgrounds concepts quite right yet. :)

But Mt. Diablo in the background is a good ending. ;)

How do you like the Magna Flow mufflers ? The chrome tips look very nice. Are they very loud under normal driving?

I agree, it does look a little strange like that, but it is still an awesome looking car.

Several other's with V6 coupes have them and love them. For some unknown reason, my V6 convertible has drone with them. Same exact muffler Magnaflow 11365 w/ 35136 tips. I am still working to find a reason and a solution. The only variable seems to be convertible vs. coupe.

If you have read of other convertible folks who have done muffler changes, please post link(s) here so I can go check out their systems and results! I have posted a 'convertibles drone syndrome?' on all three engine mod threads to see if it is real and might be across engine types.

You can read more on my and others (coupes though) experience with mufflers and BBK Shorty headers here:

Please post back any convertible specific info. You can post it to the engine specific 'convertible syndrome' threads here:

Wesley,
What tint % is that?

Have you either done any exhaust mods on your EB or read up on it?
