Its got the 6lb spring in it now. Figured that was low enough

If its got the 6lb then you have too small a vacuum line going to it, or you need to take it apart, and clean it. These are known to be sticky even new. Make sure the piston is lightly oiled, and very clean. Also make sure the spring is actually the black 6 psi spring, I have seen the wrong spring marked before. An easy way to tell if you have the light spring, and its working as it should, fire up the car, is the BOV open at idle? If not something is wrong. The 6 black spring will be open at idle.

So on the 1st video at the 3rd time he gives it throttle, I have a similar sounding fluttering but at low throttle and the fluttering frequency is faster. I don't hear the air deflection when mine flutters. Was this something I should be concerned about? I don't want to ignore it and have problems down the road. i am on stock piping using a TurboSmart Kompact BOV. It was the only OEM replacement out there at the time. I have it 1 full turn from soft using an Adam tune.

Sure
#1 - the OP has a problem for sure. That is the sounds of REAL compressor surge.

#2 - The Turbosmart stock replacement valve can have some low boost momentary surge type noise on some vehicles with an intake (seems there are a lot of variance with these vehicles).
Two things are happening, you now hear the re-circ port opening through the intake (that's where it vents to), and there is not enough pressure differential to fully open the VTA port (the ports are progressive). So you have two very separate ports opening at different times - re-circ first then vta second as pressure dictates.
It is not stopping the turbo and not hurting a thing.
Carry on and happy boosting!

Just listened to the video. The surge he has is typical throttle lift surge, the least dangerous variety, and can be run for a very long time with no ill effects on the turbo. Many cars in the early 90's can from the factory with no way to vent, and went 50-100K miles like that. The type of surge that destroys turbos is on throttle surge which I doubt he has. The biggest downside of the surge you have is #1 if you have a manual it will kill boost during the shift, and slow down transient response quite a bit. The next is the noise, it sounds pretty crappy. I provided you with two ways to get rid of it, as we had the exact same scenario when we put our CP-e pipes on, but since we prefer the TS Race-port, and are dealers we threw one of those one it. As soon as we dropped spring pressure, all was well. As I said, if you have the black spring in it already, double check your hose size, 1/4" for full vent, make sure you actually gave the black spring, as its acting like you have a stiffer one in there. These issues are common across platforms, and are always easily fixable with a little tinkering.

Ahhh... That makes sense. Thank you for clearing that up!

Was gonna make sure it had the right spring in it. But its been raining all day. Also have a 1/4" vacuum hose on it too.

This is a great thread, thanks to everyone for all their great info. (I have a Turbosmart Kompact Shorty) and MAP intake. I'm going to do some testing/tweaking in the next few days. Do you guys that have a similar combo leave the re-circ hose on or off?
