Yeah could just be the tension that needs to be loosened up. Let us know if it works!

I tried loosening it to the softest possible while still covering the o-ring. It still does the surge at low RPMs / boost. Checked to make sure I had no leaks, kinks.

Get a lighter spring...turbosmarts come with a 22hg spring in it, I consistently pull around 17hg at idle.

Which spring would you recommend? I have a Vee Port but I'm assuming the issue is the same for all

I average between 21 & 17 at idle depending on AC.

I have the Turbosmart kompact BOV on the way now and will be putting it on this weekend. Did you ever get rid of that low boost compressor surge?

Install looks pretty straightforward anyone have any tips?

No, I think I'm going to look for a lighter spring. Surge isn't bad however, at the softest setting. Turbosmart also mentioned somewhere in the forum that it wasn't actually surge or an issue, so there's that.

Install is pretty straight forward, make sure your hose has no kinks, and that the tap is pushed all the way in. (It takes some effort). Let me know how it goes and your results.

I even swapped the spring out with one recommended by Turbosmart with no luck. Still have the "surge".

For the guys looking for insight on the HKS; Is this a super sequential (SSQV)? Because if so, the low boost flutter you hear is NOT compressor surge, only the normal operating sound of the valve. Google "SSQV flutter" and you'll see you aren't the first with this concern.

It has a dual valving system that opens in two seperate instances depending on pressure. The flutter you hear comes from the smaller center valve (pictured in red):

I used both the SSQV IV and synapse synchronic BOV. Both did the same low rpm flutter. I guess it's normal.

I'm thinking this spring may be in order then, what do you guys think? I'll try out the one that comes with it first

Worth a shot. You're almost guaranteed to experience the flutter. I first contacted Turbosmart myself to ask them what spring to get and then Adam did the same and they recommended the same spring to both of us. Adam warned me that it probably won't stop the flutter and he was correct. As long as it's not harmful I'm not going to go nuts over it.

I've just installed the SSQV and also have the flutter under vacuum scenarios. I think that the reason for this is due to the inherent "rpm hang" in between shifts of this platform which causes a more gradual pressure differential change, it seems, than something like an older mechanical platform would which causes the BOV to not open until greater vacuum is reached. This theory could be backed up by the fact that the BOV does not flutter during idle actuation where the rpm does not hang. This is probably the main reason that new turbo platforms use an electronically activated BPVs as opposed to pressure differential activated BPVs of the past.

I'm getting the same flutter sound with my cp-e exhale kite. Hks bov is on the cold side. The only thing I can come up with is buying the adapter that lets me install a hose and vent back in to the intake. Like the stock bov bypass hose. Will this fix it? I'm new to the forum world. Thanks guys.
