I think I figured it out. The filter was not allowing air, hence the flutter. Once the filter was removed, the air was not longer restricted and normal sound came back (Pshh)

You should be capping your intake tube, you shouldn't have any issues.

Are you stock otherwise?

JLT CAI is the only mod I have... No flutter since I removed the filter from the tube. Is flutter really bad?

Depends if it is the BPV freaking out, or compressor surge. Either way, the correct way to do it is to plug it, or to leave it alone.

I think I'm getting the flutter. It just started. I've been running the JLT CAI for a year. The car seems to running fine but when I let go of the gas at higher RPM & PSI or when I press the clutch I'm getting a flutter sound like the videos posted. I've had the air recirculation open since installing the CAI with the CAI side capped.

It is the factory BPV opening and closing due to change in pressure in the charge system. The throttle is constantly active so when you add an intake your are exaggerating the sound. There are a few tune changes that can prevent it, but its never 100% solvable until you upgrade the BOV or Wastegate actuator.

But it just started happening and the intake was done a year ago.

I got my gf to rev the engine and the sound is definite coming out of the JLT CAI. I don't know what's causing it but I've isolated the source of the sound. I took the CAI apart and put it back together ensuring that everything is tight.

Car seems to be running fine at idle and revving but I'm concerned that it's just started.

From what I've been reading, a BOV should help this. Wish I knew the sudden cause. Now I need to start researching BOVs.

He said it was your intake, and now your saying that's where the sound is coming from. Pm him or ask on this thread, I think he found your problem

I understand that. My post was confirming the source. What I'm curious about is why now? I've had the intake for a year.

It has nothing to do with the intake. You just hear it because you have an aftermarket intake. The stock intake muffles the sound so you wouldn't hear it. I think it's probably doing it now because it's cooler out and the stock bpv can't handle all the extra dense air

Ok thanks. I'll do some research on what BOV I should go with.
