I am looking to add coilovers to my 2017 Gt. I want the car to handle better but not ride horribly. I do not want to spend more than $2,000. What brands would y'all recomend?

Good friend of mine has Pedders on his S650 and they work great. I am sure they are very similar for the S550.

Hello,

The first question we ask customers is - What are your plans with the coilovers? A lot of times, customers think they want the coilovers & then, understanding their plans/adjustability requirements, etc. - coilovers tend to be overkill. I am happy to put you in touch with our build team to discuss your coilver requirements - happy to help, you can reach me at [email protected]

Best,

TJ

TJ is right there. Handle better but not ride bad and cheap dont all three go together in a coilover set.

the car sits on springs and shocks. New springs and shocks is what 90% of people need. Those that want cheap coilovers often want to drop the car for looks (i.e. neither handle better or ride well).

you can go a long way with just agressive adjustable shocks, w/ PP or GT350 springs, and a set of swaybars. Nearly as comfortable as stock.

if you are attached to the idea of front coilovers, 2000 only gets you into the basement of the building.

Strikes me as a bad sign this is posted here rather than the Suspension section.

For that price - none. Question is why do you want them ? Coilovers are a buzz word with people thinking it's a magical suspension solution but for an average owner there is literally zero difference vs adjustable dampers with some decent springs. They'll never adjust right height or corner balance the car (or be swapping spring for different spring rates to fine tune the handling).

The other problem with asking about it them is...you usually get answers from two kinds of people.

1. Racers who have coilovers that cost many times what you want to spend, and who don't drive their cars much on the street.

2. People who bought $1,000 coilovers and think they're great, and haven't ever rode on anything else. Meanwhile they are bouncing around going down the road.

What do you want to do with the car ?
For a street car never driven on a track, coil over are a total waste of money and time
And if your car is not a pp1 car, you have plenty of other better solutions

I've had BC racing for about 5 years and they've been great without issues. I just wanted to lower the car to my preference and improve handling, simple. This is my daily and I drive canyons every weekend. They have exceeded my expectations for the price.
