Because when you are drag racing ET and getting to the line first is all that matters. If changes do not translate into quicker ET it doesn't matter. MPH and weight are true indicators of what the car is making for power.I don't get why people are so hung up on the trap speed/time. There are so many factors that go into that, from weather and tire conditions, to driver variability, that there's no point comparing.
Comparing peak numbers on a dyno graph don't mean much. The dyno is a tool when you can make changes right then and there and get measurements with the same exact air and what not. To see any gains or losses in the changes. Even then it is not a say all end all. A great example is we say an 80hp swing on pulls because we noticed it was noticed the tires were really low on air. We aired them up and it picked up 80hp. This was on a NMRA Drag Radial car btw. The motor wasn't making any more or less power. You can also fudge numbers on most dynos if you know what your doing. So use a dyno as a tool to dial in a combination. But any racer worth his sack will be at the track doing final tuning and tweaks to get the most out of the car.
Dyno queens can print out their dyno graph, frame them and display them next to their car at shows. So they have something to point at and brag about. Because everyone knows it's how you stand next to your car that is all that matters. lmao .
