Purchased my new 2015 Mustang 5.0 GT Premium 10 days ago. Love it but after 900 miles I started to recognize an occasional clunking noise coming from the 6 speed manual trans either shifting to 1st gear, or shifting 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd at higher rpm except when shifting into first gear which is while I am stopped, of course. (Note: the sound does not come from depressing the clutch pedal) Anybody experience this phenomena?

Thanks

This is very "normal" for the 2015.

Maybe not the same problem, but I have a clunk, clunk, when my eco/auto shifts from first to second. Dealer has orderd a new drive shaft that they say will fix the problem.

Got my GT PP a week ago, and have the thud in 1st and 2nd gear. Got a loaner GT without the PP for a few days, and didn't have a single thud in that car. Sounds like it is "normal", and possibly more prevalent in the the PP cars, at least from what I have been reading? That non-PP transmission loaner was smoothly shifting and quieter as well.

Am I the only ones recognizing this as drivetrain slack? I've had 3 manual rwd cars and they all did the same thing. Is this something different?

Hey all,

Has anyone visited their dealer yet for the sound? If you plan on taking it in, send me a PM. I'll look into options on my end to assist.

2015 GT PP here and I've heard it from day one. Always going to 1st and sometimes 2nd. Figured it was normal and would love to hear what the dealer says if someone takes it in. Subscribed!

No you are not. I also recognize this and have no idea why everyone makes it an issue.

Replace all rubber bushings with solid mounts, no more clunk guaranteed.

Mine is absolutely not normal it does it in the first 3 gears and shakes the car! The passengers can feel it too! Its like someone is hitting you from behind in very low speed! I ll take it in for sure! I had an ls3 camaro before this and no noises for the transmission, i wonder torsen does this! Even so Ford should have found a way to tame it down!

Well if it is that violent, then that is probably not normal.
