Clunking noise in front after installing Eibach lowering springs

Hello Everyone! I just recently installed some eibach lowering springs (sportline). After the installment I noticed a clunking noise coming from the front, I’ve tightened all bolts the sway bar is also tightened. Does anybody have an idea on what it might be? I will attach a video so you can get an idea. Thank you!

Check the control arms, tension link and tie rod ends. Check for play and or excessive movement on either end of the control arms. Also check if the springs are seated properly. What is the mileage on the car?

The mileage is at 45,233

Seems a bit too early for suspension issues but I would check all of that anyway. Maybe a bushing failed somewhere prematurely and there's metal to metal contract. I would also recommend checking the strut to make sure the spring is seated correctly.

I get an occasional rattle too, sometimes goes days with no noise and other times makes it consistently. Already rebuilt (literally) the entire suspension and bushings. So I’m excited to see what the cause of yours is and if it fixes mine too

Top sway bar end link bolt is 90% of the noise from spring installations. 85 ft pounds min.

The other 9% is improperly installing spring in the seat.

The last 1% is all the other things mentioned. Unless it clunked before the spring change.

I just had a clinking situation that I figured was worth adding here and the solution. I installed steeda min drop springs paired with ford performance track shocks. Fantastic combo.
At the same time I also installed both sway bars, irs alignment dowls, braces and brackets a few weeks later (That last part was insane how much it changed how the car handles power at the slight trade off of almost being too stiff on shitty roads).
After installing everything my car was clunk free and drove great. After alignment it was fine but then I started hearing the front end clunking going over speed bumps in my neighborhood. It got louder and louder. I pulled everything off and checked torque on the things listed on this thread and others.
The last thing I checked was the factory strut tower brace. It had come very loose. I had removed it when I installed my Ford Performance CAI and 87mm throttle body with FP tune, and added the FP engine dress up kit. However, I torqued it down to the specs. None the less, it had come loose. I re-torqued it and added another 5 ft lbs and clunk gone. I am shocked. I would have sown it was the end links or the strut top nut. Figured this may help someone else down the road.

What method did you use to tighten the top strut nut after swapping springs?

Annnnnd……. Suspension components are supposed to be torqued/tightened with the car suspension loaded (all 4 wheels on the ground or on a lift with platform). Not sure how the OP torqued everything (not mentioned), but if the torque was done with the wheels off the ground there’s possibility of suspension components not being torqued properly..

Also when putting Eibach Sportlines on, they’re an aggressive drop and it’s quite possible the car is bottoming out on the bump stops…

What struts/shocks in the car (that’s not mentioned either). Just throwing lowering springs on otherwise stock struts/shocks is going to revise the suspension travel… plus spring rates play into suspension travel and NVH as well…. The stock struts/shocks weren’t meant for a 1,5 or 2” total drop or the Eibach Sportline spring rates.

Was the positioning of the coils checked?

Hey Matty, did you ever fix the issue? I am having the same issue and I already removed the strut and put it back together. Can't find the culprit but getting the same sound as you did in this video.

I’ve been chasing this noise too in mine. I’ve ripped it all apart once myself, took it to a guy that builds Mustang race cars, he drove it couldn’t find any wrong. He tore everything out and put it back together.
I recently changed sway bar end links and it still continues. Now I’m about to rip it all out again and replace with something else.
I’ve got ford performance struts, Steeda minimum drop springs, Ebiach bump stops, Steeda sways front and rear. Mine is definitely coming from the front end. I also get slow speed clunking when pulling out of the driveway and backing out of the garage. I might also replace the maximum Motorsports camber plates for something different thinking that might be the issue as well.

You have put me in touch… his only suggestion was “do you have the plastic covers on the springs?” I responded and he never got back to me.

Ahh - I see, do you have the spring isolator coils? Do you see any wear marks on the springs where they may be chattering?
