Guy just called and cancelled on me saying the manager said they're "not able to take orders at the moment". Not surprised the least, seemed too good to be true and it was. At least he didn't have me go there for nothing.

Thanks vm for all the info though, now I know how to navigate the order if a real opportunity ever comes.

All depends on which dealership you are talking to?

My understanding has always been that the "Vehicle Order Confirmation" is a request from a dealer to order a particular vehicle for a named customer along with all options and pricing listed on the VOC.

I had at least 3 VOC's entered and cancelled on me when the 2012 Boss 302 LS cars first came out. The dealers I worked with all thought that they had allocations for an LS when they did not and I had deposits coming back from all parts of the country. Very frustrating back in 2011.

According to a couple of Ford dealers that I have worked with closely in the past few years The "Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement" is a totally separate document from the VOC and unless a DORA is issued by Ford the VOC really does not have much merit?

Well I just got of the phone with the GM and he said depending on what system they (dealer) have OLD or NEW the new is a VOC "Vehicle order CONFIRMATION" he said this is used to input right into FORD's system and that is what his dealership uses to get a confirm of an order....So if you have a VOC you should be good to go..

Sorry to hear that, I only recently heard the back story on how lucky I was to get my car. I walked in cold to the dealer last weekend. If I had waited another hour I would have missed my chance.

I was told by a dealer I contacted out of state that they have allocations but they aren't able to order yet. When I insisted that I've heard you can order them, they said they can place the order but it just sits out there. What are they talking about? I'm supposed to call back tomorrow.

It's true. They can place the order and it will just sit with no activity until the build allocation is pulled. So it seems like some dealers are waiting for their regional reps to give them the OK to place the order, others are placing the order knowing it will sit on hold until the regional rep processes the allocation and sends it for build

Yep, been waiting 2.5 months now, but this was still preferable to me to have the order on paper and signed, deposit down, etc. Didnt want to risk someone else coming in and potentially coaxing the order away from the dealer

When I was in the dealership (changing my color again..lol :doh the GM told me that no more 2016 cars are being "PULLED" the zone managers were told not to pull anymore orders until something..not sure but maybe a.."material hold" or some thing is lifted....sound like the zone manager said something to him, but its unclear to me what...but it will get pulled and vin # when they get it..they can not take my money until they get it..so neither one of us are winning at this point...

Sounds like there is some validity to the "material hold" delaying builds. I would not think it is the CF wheels since others have the same hold on non R's. Wonder what it could be?

It may not even be a part hold. Could be an engineering hold. The pilot production cars have been thoroughly thrashed upon. Maybe they found something that needs re-engineered. The harmonics have to be brutal from the 5.2L FPC as they have already stated while in development. Further evidenced by the GT350R-C breaking the exhaust mount bolts seemingly from vibration. If the case we will have some indication soon as they won't release any '15's for transport.

Does that actually guarantee that the deal is yours? Would the system allow a VOC without allocation? I just want to avoid a scenario where I pay a deposit and believe it's on order just to have an "oops, sorry about that" conversation with the dealer.

Said it before and gotta say it again. OK with me to have one of the later than earlier builds. While they could get it all right the first time and even tho covered by warranty, with so much new on this car I'm happy to let them work out the bugs on the early birds. No definite info here on the hold but decent speculation.
