Clay, or not to Clay

I am interested in how many have "Clayed" their Mustangs after taking delivery.
I have heard that even with a new car, this procedure can take a lot of "impurities" from the finish, and make the car shine better than ever.
I plan to do it as soon as I get it, but I would like to hear from those who have done it. Or do you think it is not really worth the effort?
I live in Houston, so I want to do all I can to protect the finish. Even though I will be keeping it in the garage full time when not driving...
So please. Your thoughts, pro or con to doing Clay....

Definitely clay the car. I did as soon as I got the car and a ton of rust came off the car that washing alone didn't remove. Cars get pretty filthy during the transport process and you can never go wrong with claying a car. Worth the time and effort for sure

The LE's came already detailed. I still clayed and then built a polished foundation. It looks 10 times better than its twin currently sitting in the showroom. I did get some over spray on the clay near the edges, but over all the clay stayed pretty clean.

Nothing like rubbin all over your new babe. I did it and she shines well. I have a DIB. It takes some time is the con. The pro is at the end of the day you will feel good about doing it and it is cheap.

I recommend claying the car, I too was new to claying and after doing my daily it's much improved. I used Adam polishes clay kits its $35 bucks totally worth it

Clay for sure, like Todd said no question...I was surprised at how much gunk the clay picked up for a brand new car. Feels good knowing I am starting from a good base.

What is claying and how do you do it?

Clay without question. If you feel the surface of an area you've clayed vs one you haven't, even on a brand new car, the difference is night and day. It is so much smoother.

Take a zip lock bag and put your hand inside it and run it over the paint. The bag will amplify the impurities on the paint. You will feel little bumps all over. After claying it would be reduced and almost all of it gone. Thats how you tell if you should clay or not.

What is claying and how do you do it?

Claying, or clay barring, is literally taking a bar of clay made for auto finishes, wetting the surface with a detailer spray, and rubbing the clay over it. It removes impurities from the paint that simple washing will not. Smooth as a baby's butt when you're finished.

There are some decent vids on youtube and some other excellent guides on the net. Google how to claybar a car. Definitely do this since you've never done it. Good technique is important to your finish.
