Would like some advice on what it might be and what to expect from dealership.

My car is a 2020 Mustang GT with around 18500 miles....never tracked or raced, naturally some spirited driving. And a dealer installed FP performance pack (cold air, tune and throttle body).

So I left gas station quickly and thought I detected a misfire but was at work so parked car for the day. Later on on, leaving I started car and noticed check engine light was on but car seemed fine so drove home like 18 miles. Next morning light still on so I call dealership. They logged on to Fords service and do detect a misfire and suggest I bring car in for service. So called Ford roadside to come flatbed car to dealership.

About 1 month ago I did an oil change, air filter (FP cold air) tire rotation etc. All good...

My new car warranty is up 12/29/23 and did have a "wrench light" on for a minute this past summer. Stalled car in driveway but next startup "wrench" light was off...

So what could this misfire be and what should I make sure Ford repairs now while still under warranty???

You can also go to AutoZone for assistance. They will hook a code reader up to your car and check it’s codes for free.

Attached is a code listing which could help towards quicker study, versus going back-and-forth to a site.

Edit: It might be a good idea to begin chatting the dealer up now. Even if an appointment is a month away, identifying you have an issue this week and letting them know would help towards a claim. It's not your fault they might not get to it before the 29th passes.

I bought a CGsulit sc301? scanner for ~$40 and it can read codes while also showing live data.

It has been extremely helpful given the price point.

Thanks that's good information. When the dealer first viewed the engine code in the Ford system, the service person said something like misfire in the cylinder and then said you better bring the car in. So I did. She also said that eventhough the new car warranty expires 12/29 if they have car before that then no issue. So I had the car towed to the dealership that morning. And did drop the service manager a call as well. The dealership starts work again tomorrow. Probably nothing too serious but would rather gather as much information anyway. I do remember a service bulletin (forget the Ford terminology) affecting some 2020 Mustang GTs but no recalls.

Without knowing exactly what misfire code it has helping is almost impossible. Even knowing the specific code is not easy because it can be so many things.
Random or multiple misfires, I'd be thinking vacuum leak or maybe the cam adjustors. Individual cylinder misfires could be as simple as a bad plug or coil or as drastic as a leaking head gasket, along with vacuum leaks, cam adjustors, etc.
So you can see why it's difficult to point to any one thing over the internet.

Could be as simple as bad fuel. One other thing, although the 3yr. 36k mile warranty is almost over. You still have an emissions warranty that is good for 7yr. 84k miles I believe if the culprit is something that effects emissions. In Cali its 7yr/100k miles.

Wrench light can be anything that triggers limp mode, but usually it's maf ir throttle body related. You probably just have a simple plug or coil issue though.

And I used to set my points with a match book cover and timing by ear.
(Edit)- Lol. FCOL, It’s a very special moment when you realize you sound like your dad. 😱
