Hey everyone. I know this sounds dumb before checking the codes (don’t have a code reader have to go to my parents tomorrow) but I had a check engine light come on today during a really heavy rain this morning.

It idles fine, drives fine. Nothing seems wrong at all.

Is there something I’m missing?

Is it possible that something is just wet and set the check engine light off?

It is theoretically possible.
Or it could simply be coincidental.
Find out what code is being thrown before speculating too much.

Does your car have any modifications at all?

Are you the original owner?

What is the mileage of the engine?

What brand and octane gas are you using?

It reads like this is the first instance of those codes. If so, I'd clear them, make some notes, and then see if these events repeat over time. If they do come back, see if any of the conditions align with one another to help narrow it down.

Edit,

If you haven't popped the hood in a while, do that and do a general inspection of the engine bay. Simple checks, for any leaks, loose connections or things that don't look right. Otherwise, leave it, and see if the codes return.

any resolution on this? I got the p4030 code…brought it to dealer and they said replace catalytic converter. It’s been about two weeks and no response from them and light has since gone off.

P0430 is a catalyst insufficiency code for bank 2.
There are a ton of things that can cause this. The most expensive reason is the catalytic converter failing. Sometimes it's the 02 sensor but not really likely.
Does your car have any modifications? Do you have any odd odors in the exhaust at the tail pipe? How old and what mileage on the car.
Federal law requires warranty on the emissions system for 8 years or 80k miles.
If you're outside any warranty there's a product that is added to the fuel called Cat-a-clean that's supposed to clean the honeycomb media in the cats. Haven't used it but it might be worth a try in a system with a code that comes and goes.
I don't know where you live but be aware that some states require CARB compliant cats whether or not it complied when new.

Hey…yeah 2022 and 26k miles. Dealer is replacing it at no cost to me. They said it wasn’t the sensors so I’m good with any new parts. I still have a few months left on warranty as well.

Do you have a hood vent when it would let water into the intake? Maybe the air meter is getting wet due to a saturated air filter
