Any ideas on BE/EU available 'cheaper' alu's set for winter driving = cheaper than +1000 EUR per set (without tires of course)?

Can't seem to find this on the US section ... only alu's there are high-price-tag kits!

I'd be interested in this as well. If push comes to shove, I'll have some winter tires installed on my current rims, but a second set would be nicer.

Second set indeed much easier - by the way would be looking for 19" to keep the sports-car-look

Did you find the prices for the default 19x9 custom pack ecoboost wheels? I was quoted €3780 for 4 wheels+tires (studless winter tires)

I had the same question, and deducing from the fact that the base 18x8" wheels have 235s on them, I guess you'll need 235/45R19 tires. The outer diameter is then 1.08% larger than the standard 255/40R19 tire, which is OK. Not sure if 8" is not too narrow though. (I'm not an expert by any means)

Guys, just out of curiosity, why do you change your rims for winter? I never did that, so I'm sorry for sounding stupid... Do you want to protect the main rims in winter? Ir is it to protect them from damage during tire change?

I'm very interested in this. Primarily, I don't want 275s on the rear tyres in the snow, and also, if I get a set of rims, I can change them myself with a jack and a tyre iron, instead of paying to have them fitted each and every winter. That way I can have summer wheels and winter wheels, and swap myself when I feel the need to.

but (at least here) fitting tyres on rims and then installing on car costs about 10 eur per wheel, so absolutely cheaper than buying a second set of rims :)

EDIT: also, you need a new set of TPMS valve\sensors, unless you want to live with the constant warning, or disabling the function in settings.

At ten Euros, sure, that's reasonable - but it's more like 30 Euros here. There and back again twice a year, and that's 240 Euros every year. Four or five years and you've made it up, plus you get to pick narrower tyres for the winter, which is what you need to bite through the snow.

This is the sort of tyre width that bites through the Swedish snow :D

OEM wheels are nice buy agressively overpriced. I like OEM wheels, but getting a second set would be a waste of money imho.

I already bought a set of Michelin Alpin PA4's in 255/40/19 which will go on the stock wheels. They are by far the best non studded winter tyres on the market and winter is no reason to drive on ugly small wheels.

Not sure what I'm gonna do after the winter, but probably a set of 20". Current favorite is the Niche Misano M116 in 9x20 front and 10x20 rear.

Any advice on tire options and fitment on EB PP for 8.0x19 ET45 alu's
I would strongly advice against that ET value, because it will make your wheels sit even deeper into the wheel wells than the stock wheels already do. 13 mm more to be precise.

If you want an 8 inch wide wheel you will need to compensate for that with at least 13mm lower ET, so ET32 at the highest. And make sure to test fit them, because not every wheel will clear the brake calipers! Of course you can also use spacers. H&R will be releasing 20mm spacers for the S550 in October. A 20 mm spacer will generate the same effect as a 20 mm lower ET value.

I had the same question, and deducing from the fact that the base 18x8" wheels have 235s on them, I guess you'll need 235/45R19 tires. The outer diameter is then 1.08% larger than the standard 255/40R19 tire, which is OK.
If you go by the standard 235/50/18's that go on the non PP cars then exact matching tire sizes are:

235/45/19
265/40/19
265/35/20

I've always found it kinda odd that Ford went with 255/40/19's on the PP wheels, because they are indeed 1.08% smaller than the standard tire. But they probably judged the 265 to be too wide up front for sharp steering (which it sorta is), 235 too small to be sporty (which it kinda is too).

Sorry I haven't noticed you are in sweden, so different winter from Italy :D
I have never used snow tires, even if in my city the mayor make them mandatory from november to march.. at worst we could have a half-day of snow every year

I have been contemplating doing this as well. Question is: What to do with the Pirelli's? Is there a market for second hand (crap) tires?
