I think my P0420 code is just turned off completely in my tunes. I can't throw any codes regardless of defoulers or like I have it right now, both sensors just plugged in the rear with no spacers. Flip side is I can't ever get the O2 heater readiness to pass due to the O2 location.

I hear you on the location on the rears. It's a real tight fit with some of the defoulers I've used and the extensions really stretch too.
I’ll be honest the odds are it’s turned off. Most tuners and shops just shut them off. It’s easier for them. Especially mail in tunes. They don’t know how efficient your cats are so what are they gonna waste time to try and make them not pop codes. Defoulers are almost always necessary and as I learned they don’t always fit properly based on how the header is designed without a little extra work. In the end all pointless if I go catless once boosted. But not necessarily necessary to remove high flows which realistically most of the time are not anywhere near what a cat is supposed to be. Without defoulers 90% of the time you will not pass emissions. Unless you got kooks green caps. But what’s the point at that point.

I thought this wasn't possible anymore due to the epa / derive lawsuit settlement?

I thought turning off emission was a no go after the ruling?

Yea, any shop that turns off the cat DTC is in for some real big fines and possible jail time. Derive and Harley Davidson got hammered real bad.

I guarantee the EPA is buying tunes at random to see if the shops are in compliance.

I’m just glad I’m not in a tree-hugger State.

I don’t know how much the EPA is involved in tunes. I also don’t know enough to comment on other state laws. But I do know tuners still shut the sensors off.

I'm doubtful ant reputable tuner you'd find / hear about on here would even entertain that. It's simply not worth the risk.

Iirc all the tuners had to take a course to become compliant and their software was locked until this was done.. the ability to turn off emission devices was also removed from the software and was also part of the settlement.

I mean realistically any mechanic that installs catless headers is susceptible to the same fine where I live. Some won’t do that some will. It all depends on who is willing In the end. Like I said I have high flows though. Don’t have an issue with that. But to me those articles aren’t great examples. Harley is a giant motorcycle manufacturer when compared to a random shop tuning a random car. As far as I’ve seen at least where I am from tuners shut the sensors off. I don’t know where you guys are from or what shops you guys go to but I guess these shops here aren’t as concerned.
