I have a 2016 GT premium , I discovered one day that the carpet was wet mainly on the driver side , my first thought was that I had some sort of a leak and that it was wet from the rain. However it’s been several months now and has rained multiple times and it has never gotten wet again , I even had someone run a hose over the car while I sat inside , and it was fine. it’s never been wet again since that one time. also shortly after the day it got wet my heat and air conditioning will not turn on , I hit the button to turn them on and nothing happens , also all of my switches like my switch for all of my drive modes also doesn’t work , as well as the instrument panel lights don’t work. ….. if anyone has any idea what my have happened and what is involved in fixing it please let my know , I just want to get an idea of what iam dealing with before I try to have it fixed…. Thanks !!!

Hello; This is a wild guess, but I have seen it happen. On the firewall near the base of the windshield is a trough. Has a few functions. Because it can get rain in it the trough usually has a drain to allow the water out. I have seen these shallow depressions fill up with water when the drain gets stopped up. I drove a Crown Vic once in which you could hear water sloshing around. That might be how the carpet got wet. Check in front of the windshield around the wipers for leaves and such.
Another way is the drain of the AC system can get stopped up. The AC condenses water from the air so the water needs a way to be evacuated.

No real clue as to the switches fail. Perhaps from getting wet??

Are you sure that the fluid on the floorboard isn't/wasn't coolant?

From what I could tell it was not coolant , I used a shop vac to clean it up and it looked like water to me !!
You should be able to smell if it was coolant.
I second sk47's recommendation to check the firewall drain holes for clogs.

Ok I have had the same thing happen on my Honda Accord - and this seems similar. There is a tube that carries the condensation from the AC coils near the vents and empties the water under the car. Sometimes over time this tube gets block with dust/crud/moss and the water doesn't get drained and empties onto the floor inside the car. All it needs is a burst of compressed air or a wire to unblock it

Hello; Coolant has a distinct odor so that would be a tell for antifreeze.

Heater core is on that side and they tend to leak.
The Heater Core is on the RH Passenger Side, right?

It could be a leak that occurs only when the car is moving, such as a rubber plug or sealer tape on the Dash Panel (actual name instead of "Firewall"), Cowl, Underbody, or a leaky seam, etc, where the water has to have a sideways component and not just vertically draining downward. It may be very hard to find.

Water on the Driver's side, with several electrical problems.

I can think of three areas to check, and have included some thread references for those.

Door and window seals. There are the obvious rubber seals for the doors and windows, what you can immediately see and touch. But there are also some stickers in the door jambs, areas one doesn't always notice or think of.

https://www.google.com/search?q=mus...HS6iLI8QrQIoAnoECB8QAw&biw=1462&bih=739&dpr=2

A/C evaporator core vent tube. These can block sometimes, and cause condensation to enter the car. The water hose was attempted. What about running the A/C on max cold on a hot day, to produce the most condensation? The defrost? You could also remove the cabin filter and look for any signals of water leaking.

Battery well drain tube. There's a drain exit, directly underneath the battery. Might be worth lifting the battery access cover and simply looking inside. And checking cables for corrosion, since you're already there. Water accumulating in the battery box can enter the interior.

https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...battery-box-if-your-car-stays-outside.201220/

The heater core is on the RH side of the car, along with the cabin filter box, A/C evaporator core and battery box.

The comment on electronics freaking out...the Body Control Module-A, is on the RH side of the car as well. As you're sitting in the passenger seat, BCM-A is immediately to the right of the right foot. There are door seals in the door jamb, the HVAC and cabin systems and the battery tray above, all in that area. Getting BCM-A wet could wreak all kinds of electrical issues.

For those unfamiliar with BCM-A, it's the primary in-cabin computer and fuse panel. It connects to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) (under hood) and BCM-B (trunk), all the interior electronics and electrical modules.

I thought of windshield leaks, around the glass itself. But I'd think the issue would be occurring much more frequently.

If after all that, still nothing seen or repeatable, I'd take note of it and press on. Check carpets every once in a while (including pressing hand to firewall, left and right sides, lifting carpet, etc.). Inspect this. Check that. I keep a simple log book I put notes in, to refresh thoughts and what-ifs if something happens again.
