Hi guys, I feel really stupid with this but need some help.

I have a 2015 GT that I left parked in an underground garage over the last 3 months to keep it away from the snow. When I went to get it last week the battery was completely dead. So I got my other car to jump it (2017 Mazda CX5), but the car can't get started. Once the battery is connected, lights turn on and the infotainment turns on as well, but the engine won't start.

At this point I am not sure what to do. The car is in an underground garage so there isn't enough room for a tow truck to tow it out, and I really don't want to have to try to change the car battery inside the garage where I don't have any tools or lighting. Any ideas of what I can do or how I can jump the car would be really helpful! :hail:

It is quite normal. Completely disconnect the battery from the mustang. Reconnect. Connect the jump vehicle to mustang, with jump vehicle running above idle. Leave the jump car connected to your mustang for a long time 10-15 min or so. It takes that long sometimes to get it to start. Try to start.

Imo, u need to let the Mazda charge it for quite awhile, or worst case a new battery.

Thanks Baron, will try that tomorrow. I have a 10 gauge jumper cables, is that enough? Also should I rev the Mazda for 15min while connected, or it's okay to just let it sit there while I wait?

Don't need to rev, just let it sit charging for 10-15 and then start it.

As mentioned above, you just haven't gotten enough juice into the battery to turn it over. For future reference, you should disconnect the battery for extended storage if you don't have access for a trickle charger.

This is why you pull the negative terminal off the battery when you store it. Too many computers and what not drain out the battey long term. A flat battery over time will sulfate the plates, requiring a new battery. I would go to wally world, get a new battery, and be done with it.

I would buy a battery tender. Hook it up now if you don’t need to start the car right away, plus you have it for next year. They are cheap and will help your battery last a lot longer if you store it every year.

Get one of these jump starters or the newer lithium ion types. I bought this after my battery died in storage. It is easy insurance. A battery tender needs to be plugged in. You typically cant do that away from home. These also have enough power to immediately start your car.

The Lit-ion jumper is better. The Cobra brand one suppose to keep for a year if you don't use it, fits in your glove box and mine jump started a friends WRX when the older lead acid jumper couldn't.
