Hi all,

I posted this yesterday in the Infotainment and Electronics thread but it didn't get any responses. I'm hoping it might here.

Long story short, I paid for the active alarm system and now I realized that I'm "that guy" on the block who's alarm gets set off by anything. Loud sound vibrations, intense changes in atmospheric pressure, basically the earth's daily rotation.

Is there any one on here, or any guide that I could follow that would help lower the sensitivity? I still want it to be an active alarm system, I would just also like it if it didn't go off at the sound of loud fireworks or whenever I close my trunk. Or even when a driver revs their car engine at a meet.

is this an aftermarket part or the built in ford system?

I have the security package and mine has never gone off.

I have the enhanced security package and mine has gone off twice at random times. Once when I was scraping ice and snow off the windshield and another when I was washing the car, hitting it with the high pressure hose lol

It is not the enhanced security package. When I bought the car, they offered the passive alarm system, or the upgrade to the active system. I chose the upgraded active alarm system.

But now it's just too sensitive. I've been trying to find resources that would help but I can't seem to find anything on the situation.

Mine went off just walking by it one time. Never touched it. Just got kind of close. It was in the garage and for all I know it was my shadow that set it off.

At this point nobody cares about your alarm so having it is pretty useless. Just deactivate it...

You should seek help from your dealership. Since it's not a feature that is available from the factory, everyone's experience will be different.

I have the Security Package with the interior sensors and all that, and have only set it off once when getting in because I had the key in my hand which was too far outside the vehicle as I slid in the seat. As soon as the key cleared the doorjam the alarm stopped.

Talk about having to live a painful lifestyle living beside a railroad track and having your Mustang alarm honk every hour. I am sure the neighbors in my condo complex just love it too.

That sucks!

I luckily live in a complex with a bunch of high end cars. If someone is going to break into a car, it's going to be that S5 or M3, not my low end GT Premium (that I have yet to actually buy). :) So no need.

I have the enhanced security package and its only gone of once when it was on a lift when I was putting parts on it. So if you have something else that is probably not an OEM issue. I would ask the dealer/installer of that is something that can be adjusted.

Must be a sensitivity adjustment screw somewhere.

I have a GT Prem with the Enhanced Security Pkg. I thought the enhanced package just covered the motion sensors for the interior. Mine has only gone off once when I tested the interior motion sensor. I thought it was supposed to chirp or make some sound if somebody got to close to the car, but that sure doesn't happen. I've given a pretty hard bump to the exterior body and it never set off the alarm. I'm beginning to wonder if I have defective security system...

OP has a dealer added shock sensor alarm. Not the factory ESP. Your alarm is fine.

Living in a not so good area, I care about my alarm I just don't care for it being super sensitive. Thanks.

I thought there was a sensitivity setting in the instrument cluster? I'll have to check mine when I get home
