in the morning when the car is cold, my front camber is -1.7 degrees. when i get back from work when the car is warm, it is -1.5 degrees. this is repeatable. does anyone have an explanation for this?

Precisely how are you measuring it? Most of my home tools won' t measure with accuracy to 0.1 degree.

Tire pressure changing most likely. Cold tires lower PSI, hot tires higher PSI

Do you measure it in the same exact spot ? To accurately measure actual camber, car needs to be on a flat surface (obviously), back to back measurements are ok as long as you're in the same exact spot but other than tire pressure, there is nothing that temperature affects in a measurable way. Like Nightmaremoon said, you're measuring method is likely not repeatable enough to make this claim.

i use this gadget set on top of a level i cut to precisely the diameter of the rim.
spec sheet of level says accuracy to 0.05 degrees.

Measurement error is the most likely culprit, but you should also take ride height measurements as well to make sure there are no other contributors.

Toe measurement changes with temperature too. Metal expands and different metals expand and different rates and different parts of the car are different temps.
