it seems that too much negative camber in the rear impairs traction and acceleration. i wonder if the converse is true. does too much negative front camber impair braking?

Handling is always a compromise balancing a lot of different factors
Obviously camber decrease the tire contact patch, and therefore maximum braking, in a straight line, it also increase, if negative, traction in turns
You gain way more in turns that you loose in braking

Yes... but, it takes kind of extreme camber to cause a problem.

My car is running 3.2 degrees of front camber, and braking is still not noticeably impacted. Helps to have good tires (MP4S for daily duty). I'm still braking at up to 1.24g, fwiw.

My guess is that we'd probably have to be well north of -4* to see significant braking loss.

Yes. At -4 it’s obvious. Luckily at -4 you don’t have to brake too often.
