Hi Folks -

I just got the call that I have an allocation to order a GT350R. I'm still kinda in shock. I've had BMW M3s, M5s for about the past 14 years. Now it's time to try something else.

I currently have a 2015 M3 that I really like but I don't love it. I think I will love this car. I usually change cars pretty quickly but I really think I will hold on to this one. An instant classic I believe.

I am going to call the dealer tomorrow to hopefully go ahead and order. I'm thinking white with a black roof and black racing stripes.

This is going to be a fun process and I look forward to spending some time on this forum with you guys.

No hope in keeping both?

I know my 5.0 isnt a GT350, but I enjoy driving the 5.0 and F82 both but it different ways.

In any case, congrats on the GT350 - it will be epic.

1st, Welcome to the first generation of world class performance in an American Muscle Car. I suspect that the raw numbers and performance experience is going to be everthing that you could ever want. I hope that the level of luxury isn't a disappointment.

I've owned four M3s. 97', 99', 04' and 08'. I loved my e36 and e46 chassis. The E92 I liked, but like you said, didn't love. I am not a fan of the direction BMW has gone in. These days Audis, Bmws, Mercedes, they are all the same. I feel that there is no soul that goes into these cars anymore.

I hope the GT350 will end up being the car I thought I was buying in 08'. I was sold the second I found out they didn't offer an automatic!

Hi AMpowerJ I too own a 2015 M4 and I really like it but don't love it. I'm considering a GT350 too. Are you getting your from a local dealer?

I had an opportunity to sit in a GT350R at the Sonoma Shelby Mini Nats a couple weekends ago. I've also owned two E9x BMW's, as well as an F20 M235i, and spent a lot of time in a previous gen 5.0 GT owned by a friend. The improvements to the Mustang interior design, materials, and fit/finish are quite impressive. The GT350 interior is at least on par with my F20 M235i, which itself wasn't exactly gold standard of BMW interiors, but I think indicates the amount of progress made by Ford between generations of the Mustang.

Going to tell you...
Your BMW (nor mine) won't impress you as much as the GT350 will... just sitting in your driveway.

I hear these cars every day and still stir when I hear one barking. When they run one threw the dyno everyone around has this sheepish grin as they go about their work.

Is there such a term as "American Exotic" ..?

I still think the E30 M3 is the best. I have an 80k mile one. Just the boxed look makes you smile.

Very well said. I just told my brother yesterday I didn't feel like the M3 had any soul. Something only car guys would understand.

Well I also have an M4 which at this point I am keeping as my daily driver and using the GT350 as my track vehicle. The M4 works so well as my daily driver I really do not want to get rid of it.It is in Moonstone which was a no charge colour in Canada.

You pretty much nailed it. All that German stuff has morphed into a similar commodity, they really don't look much different than the boring Jap stuff.

Well, you can't take anything away from the M4, it is one hell of a car. It is just not what many expected, or really wanted.

BMW should've tried all that technology in a high-revving 2.5 liter, or a 3.8 NA engine. Kinda hard to admit there is something missing, or nothing kinda special about //Ms any more.

Perhaps BMW execs need a reshuffling.... again

If it had a engine like the GT350 has then it would have been a real worthy successor to the E92 M3!I miss the great sounds of my S65 engine M3's :)
But the reality the M4 is a lot better everyday car with a lot better fuel milege in my daily commute of about 100 miles.

Just not enough torque in a motor like that for a 3500lb+ car.

A 4.4L+ V8 would have been better, but moving in the wrong direction due to CAFE standards and such
