"Least reliable" Bmws as a whole are all fairly unreliable. dont cherry pick.
Hey if facts hurt your brain I'm sorry for bringing them up.

BMW is rated 3/5 stars and Ford is 2/5 stars for reliability in 2015 by JD Power.. ;)

BTW I'm here to buy a GT350 so I'm not just a BMW lover but facts are facts.

Im a bmw master tech. You arent. Thats fact. Yours is opinion based.

Jd power is the most ridiculous way to judge overall reliability. Only low information people use that stuff.

Another E92 M3 here. 40k miles and only had to replace an 02 sensor so far. Looking at maybe getting a GT350 once my extended warranty ends and they start popping up slightly used.

You are comparing the least reliable BMW of the last 10 years (N54 335i) vs one of the most reliable (e92 m3). and its not even close. Everyone knows 335i N54 are the problem child of BMW with horrible reliability esp if you tune them.

I owned TWO e9x M3s an 08 and an 11 before I got my 15. Neither of them ever had an issue. Over 50000 miles combined.

The biggest problem w/ the E9x is the gearing in the 6spd and no torque.

My F8x would teabag my E92 in performance. No way Ill keep this turbo out of warranty tho.
Did you miss when i listed the e39 m5, two e46, and an e60 m5? C'mon man, I only mentioned my 335i once lol.

Don't get me wrong, I love BMW as much as you. But some of us BMW owners have to face the facts. You put 50k COMBINED miles on THREE SEPARATE cars... and then you stated that they were trouble free miles. According to modern standards, that's horrible man. I mean, I would have understood if you were posting about putting 100k miles on ONE e92 m3 but this is just ridiculous. And at the end, you proved my point even more.

No way Ill keep this turbo out of warranty tho.
I really hope that you don't take me in the wrong way tho. I've been missing my e39 m5 like crazy and I'll probably end up buying one after I get the 5.0 mustang next month.

My point is, the E92 is best at what it does (which is balance). However, when we take in performance, reliability, and potential into the argument, the gt350 blows the e92 m3 out of the water.

I also came from an E92 335.

If I had to pay out of pocket for everything that was done under warranty, I could have leased another car. I think all the extra options on the build sheet for BMWs need to have a warning about how it costs more to repair the function of said option than it does to actually get the option on the car.

I will probably have one again as a lease later in life as my salary continues to rise, but I needed something easier to keep for a long period of time.

If you are somewhat serious about performance oriented driving, JD Power is one of the worst (if not THE worst) source to base your decision upon; especially if you plan to mod your car (which is what 99% of us enthusiasts do). I'd rather hear the experiences of other veteran enthusiasts, research on forums, etc.

As far as I know, JD Power has been irrelevant to enthusiasts for YEARS.

So you're kind of proving my point. My whole point was that the E9x M cars are very reliable while the 335i was one of the worst. Then I was said to be cherry picking so I decided to target the full fleet of the manufacturers in question.

Obviously I'm OK with the GT350 and its quality as I'm buying one. But I wouldn't buy a standard v6 Mustang. See where I'm going with this...

Old thread, but my experience. I owned a 2007 335i (e92), did euro delivery 09/06 and got the car back home in 12/06. I modded it heavily in an attempt to make it a passable track car, that was a mistake. I ended up with a mediocre track car and a mediocre street car. I sold it in 2011 with 121k km, I had some minor, common BMW issues, sensors mostly. The tranny was a bit sketchy near the end. In 2011 I bought an e92 M3, much better car on the track although the OEM brakes over heated way too quickly. The engine was sublime, suspension was ok. Very reliable (I upgraded the brakes, oil cooler, etc.. ). I was going to keep it but in 2014 I traded it for an impossible to pass up deal on a 997.2 gt3rs. I have a 17 GT350 on order, hoping for an R (who knows!?). I was able to do only one lap at Mosport in a GT350, but have driven one on the road long enough to know that it really does do everything an e92 M3 does a bit better. It doesn't have the ferrari blip but aside from that the engine is stronger, suspension is significantly better and steering feel is as good or better, all imo of course.

While I believe the GT350 hands the '11-'13 M3 it's ass in every single performance area known to entusiast, the E92 has other value.

As with the our current S550, the E92 was simply the best BMW for the Track, Series and Curcuit. Although, with the M2's recent arrival, I'd say that is the future of the M. The E92 was a disposable razor, just as out S197 and S550 GT's. It's simply the best tool for the job...

The GT350's performance has elevated the car into Corvette classes both Pro and Amateur. In fact, it was no longer required to offer a base GT350 without MRC because it had already been pushed into classes where cars are no longer stock.

The GT350 is superior to the E92 M3 in every way, with the exception of its usability. It can be somewhat difficult to find a class that sanctions the GT350 stock.

997.2 GT3 RS and a GT350 - that right there is the perfect garage. Post photos when you've got them together. You're smart to be in a GT3 RS financially as well - only going up.

When did I prove your point? quote me on it. I mentioned the 335i once in my first post, along with the m3's and m5's. But somehow, you missed the entire point of that post and keep referring to my current 335i. I'll ask you this again, did you not see when I said that I have owned an e39 m5, two e46's, and one e60? Or when I said I had quite a few friends with e90 & e92 m3's? Or are you going to come back to my 335i again

It's like writing a PhD level essay in high school but getting an F on it because I misspelled one word lol.

And we're still talking about stock power levels on the e92 m3. Add some more power to it and...well you and I both know what will happen. :(
