Alright I need to hear from gear heads more knowledgeable than me, which is basically everyone here. Cold started my 2020 GT (about 28 degrees out) yesterday. The car had been high idling for less than a minute when I could swear I smelled burning oil or something burning. No smoke, no codes, nothing out of the ordinary except for the smell. Checked the dipstick when I got home, and the level was about in the center, didn’t look or smell burnt. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance to everyone who chimes in!

When the engine and drivetrain are cool to the touch, pop the hood, use a torch if needed and take a look around, topside and underneath. If you see anything of interest, take a photo and report back. We can give you a general idea of what's going on, repairs and costs.

Valve covers most likely, valve seals a close second., How many miles?

Could be a great opportunity to get fancy valve and injector covers! Also stick you finger with latex gloves on or shine a light in the exhaust pipes see if there's any oily residue.

Not sure if GT has liquid filled engine mounts but they have been known to leak.

I’m getting a burnt oil smell as well. I noticed wet oil stains around a coil pack and top of valve cover on passenger side. First observed after a 87 mile drive. Then noticed it after short drive on cool morning. Only has 6,100 miles on car.

If it's the '22 Mach1 in your signature, I'd have that warranty checked by the dealer. It could be one of the rubber seals on the cam cover where the spark plug boot goes through.

Yes it’s the 22 Mach 1. I’ll take it to the dealer. Since my bumper to bumper warranty is up in March. The thought of them wrenching on it is frightening.

I get it, and it is probably something simple that you could do yourself, but I would want it documented in case there are issues associated with it further down the road. Just my .02.
