I ended up doing the same to my Bullitt! The single horn was embarassing, sounded like a clown car lol don't know why they skimped on the double horn for a premium car like the Bullitt, but oh well it saved a few cents on the assembly line I guess.
Do you mind making a quick vid of what yours sounds like?

The real world difference is this:

Single Horn: Umm, ah, excuse me, um sorry to bother you, ah, um yes, uh...........sorry, never mind, my mistake, I'll just leave now.................

Dull horn: WHAT THE F..K ARE YOU DOING!!!!!!!!

You're right.

What I always notice is when I lock the car for the 2nd time and it gives me the horn chirp. I don't really care about masculinity or anything like that, but driving into a lot with Track mode and a cool car is all great, until you're emasculated by hitting the tweety bird of a horn. 🤷‍♂️

Iiteresting. I went to my dealer today to get an estimate to install the dual horns which I already purchased from them. The mechanic who usually works on Mustangs had left for the day. The service manager first told me they had to remove the engine cover. I pointed out that was incorrect and showed him where the horn was located on the Bullitt. Then he said they would have to remove the intake to get the air box out. That was going to cost $100. Next a mechanic walked by and asked what we were looking at. He suggested the easiest way to get to the horn was to take the wheel off and remove the fender liner. Another $100 estimate. I decided since I am going to remove the wheels to clean and wax them I think I'll see how easy it is to remove the liners and see if I can reach the horn. What a pita.

yes - this is the way do it: lift let car, and pull the left front wheel. you dont have to completely remove the fender liner, just remove the fasteners on the front half of the liner, and carefully reach in behind it. the horn and connector are right there. you can then swap out the horn in about 1 minute. easy peasy. for me, not even worth paying someone $100.

Yeah, that's the thing.

It's hard to blame shops. In the end, it's time for the guy to not be able to do an oil change or something with a high markup generating profits for the service dept.
They gotta jack it up, take off stuff, etc etc.

I am not in that industry, nor do I gain anything by defending shops/dealer, but looking at it from simple business perspective, unless it's strictly relationship building/maintaining, why would they bother if they can't at least break even or make slight profit?

The thing is, for people not equipped with tools/skills/time to do this themselves, that's why they charge ya. 🤷‍♂️

Everyone here recommending the dual horn though basically convinced me to do it. I'll probably dabble on it myself.

@Massman - you mind posting a few pics so I can see if I wanna take the airbox or wheel-off route?

I had mine installed by the dealer during an oil change. I purchased supplied the part. I think my installed total cost was $85.

Notwithstanding how lame it sounded, I think it was dangerous at highway speeds, as it wouldn't get anyone's attention...

Yeah, I don't disagree with you there. I think beyond the wimpy sound I think you might be right about it being hard to hear at highway speeds, especially in the louder exhaust modes.

Don't generally dealerships have issues installing customer supplied parts? Or did you keep original packaging and all and ask them to do it? I'm guessing depends on your relationship with the dealer, too...

I purchased the dual horns from them last year. I understand they have to make $ to stay in business, but I thought $100 was a bit steep. I have purchased 7 vehicles from this dealership. Had a wonderful relationship with the owner who was able to get my Bullitt when no other dealers with in 60 miles could. Sadly he recently passed. Had he still been there I'm sure the cost would have been much lower. At least I now know how to get at the horn and replace it thanks to a service rep.

They were genuine Ford, I purchased from the parts dept at the dealership. I have a good relationship with the service dept., so they are very accommodating and greet me by name every time I go there, unlike the local VW dealership service dept. where I took my Jetta for all its service for 12 years and the last time I went in 2 years ago, they didn't know me from a hole in the ground. I no longer give them my business.

Hey, did you ever get around to trying to do this via the wheel well? I'm about to buy mine and was curious.
