yes - this is the way do it: lift let car, and pull the left front wheel. you dont have to completely remove the fender liner, just remove the fasteners on the front half of the liner, and carefully reach in behind it. the horn and connector are right there. you can then swap out the horn in about 1 minute. easy peasy. for me, not even worth paying someone $100.
Is it easy to damage the liner at all? I know in some vehicles the plastic is brittle and PITA if it gets bent or cracked.

I just ordered the dual horns from my dealer, got him to match the cheapest online I found, $41.41 after tax. I might ask them to do it at my next oil change, the dang Bullitt is so hard to jack up I might actually pay someone to change oil and do this for me. Hate lifting the car.

No, the liners are real flexible. Remove the fasteners carefully, and you can re-use them to put it all back together.
$40 is about what i paid for the horn also.
i hear ya on lifting the car. i put jacking rails on the car soon after i got it. makes it a lot easier to deal with lifting the car due to no good place to lift it without them. i’m glad i did because i got a nail in one of the tires and took it to the tire shop for repair.. who knows what lifting points they would have used without the rails in place.
good luck.

Oh, I got lifting rails in it too. But still, I struggle to get under there with my regular jack anyway!
Good to know though, hopefully dealer won't try to charge me too stupid of a price for the swap.

HOLY S*IT.

I called my dealer yesterday, they're usually pretty good about service etc. I bought the horn from them for the above-mentioned $41.
But then I asked how much to install it if I get an oil change done there (which is $140 from them) and he said it would take an hour, another $140!

So to get an oil change and throw the horn in when it's already on the lift is $280 with oil change, $320 after parts.

I think I need to start looking for a new dealer, what the hell... I hate how much of a PITA is to jack the car, but for this price I can start saving up for a damned Bendpak lift! 😠

IMHO jacking up the car and going in through the wheel well would be a lot harder than removing the air box. Just go ahead and do it yourself.

My dealer did me a solid and put the horn in at no charge. Took about half an hour. Did not ask how they did it.

You can install it from the top if you do not want spend the $140. It’s easier than you think. Just need to be careful.

Yeah, you're probably right. I just don't know if I want to go through all that hassle of re-lining the foam and all that. But I'm guessing should be doable when there's good pictures from other users here.

I thought I had a good relationship with these guys too. Thought he'd say "throw in a $50 and we'll do it" or something along the lines of them doing it while waiting for the oil to drain, can't be that long. I understand I can't expect things for free. But come on, a full hour charge for this??

hey i am really sorry this simple mod has become such a hassel. i forget that maybe not everyone has access to tools and a good level work space that i do. do what you are most comfortable with.
i am replying again to this thread because i realize i did not convey the main point: even with the air box removed, access to the horn is very poor; this is a two-hand job and you can only get one hand down there at a time. you cannot see the bracket or bolt hole making it difficult to re-install the new horn. in accessing through the fender, you can get both hands on the horn and connector, and see what you are doing, and literally takes less than 2 mins to remove the old horn and install the new one this way.
Again, do what works best, and is safest, for you.

Oh it's all good! That's what these forums are for, to share this knowledge on things some people have already done!
I was just voicing my frustration and trying to see that maybe my "relationship" with my dealer isn't as good as I though.

Do you by a chance have any pictures from the process? I'll probably do my own filter, I don't want to pay someone that much to do this.

I will try it through the wheel well, thank you!

Wow, I think I do need to find a new dealer, sounds like.

I just got a call back from another Ford dealer. They told me .6hrs for the horn at $78 after tax and full synthetic $110 after tax or $55 for synth blend. I'll probably continue full synthetic, but basically I'm looking at $188 for oil change and horn install, which is worth avoiding messing with the airbox or removing the wheel.

Then I will need to take that bill to my normal dealer and ask them why would the same service cost me $100 more there.
Just thought I'd kind of give you guys some feedback on this.

I did see that, thank you for reposting that, was getting lost in the multiple threads and couldn't remember where the good pics were.
Took you what, 15min?
I did notice other users replying that it was more of a pain than your pictures would suggest. In the pic (that the forum rotated for you) it looks completely removed. Is there good enough space to maneuver the new dual horn in? My hands are fairly big...

Really big hands might be a problem. One thing to remember is there's a hook the bracket hangs on. Once you get it hung on there, it's easier.

I gotcha. I think I might try to access through the wheel well.... All this squeezing of the box out and trying to not drop nuts and hanging the horn in tight place all sounds like I'll swear up a storm (although your pics are very nice).
My Brembos started squeaking like stupid, so might do 2 birds with one stone I guess if I lift it up.
