Obviously a used car. Previous owner changed it. Maybe the original is inside the trunk :D.

Yeah obviously used, but I would be taking a long hard look for signs of a rear end shunt if the original isn't in the trunk

I thought this post was going to be very different but here it is. I bought the MP Concepts blacked out gloss panel from American Muscle ($102 & change after tax). It arrived quickly and was packaged really well. I removed my old panel and began to install the new one, which is when I started to notice a few things. The quality of the piece seemed nice over all but some corners had plastic burrs and one edge wasn’t painted fully. I pressed on with install. After struggling to get the right side to align flush like the left side (yes, the large plastic tabs were under the tabs on the trunk) I gave up and just finished up to see what the final result would look like. And then I saw what I knew I couldn’t live with......

A plastic “dent” or a crease and the more I looked the more I found. It was very hard to photograph because the piece is like a mirror but I captured one of the at least 4 places to show you. I called customer service, they were very nice, very apologetic, very helpful. The final result, I’m sending the part back and I’m keeping the stock part on. If I want to do that install over again and break a few more tiny “teeth” off some of those clips I’ll try the Accelatec from CJ Pony.

For the Accelatec guys- did the part come with weatherstripping on it? The MP Concepts did not.

Its been over a year since I did mine but seem to remember a strip of foam across the back of it.

It's a shame the Ford Performance piece is not smooth, like it should have been.

I think I am the only one that doesnt mind the big Bullitt dish? I think its unique and different plus it helps people know its a Bullitt and not a GT/Ecoboost :p :p had to say that

My rear trim panel arrived today. I have a question for those that have replaced it. Due to my replacement panel being a new take off from an earlier model I think there are two plastic tabs towards the outer most tabs with the metal clips that I will need to remove. Are the two tabs without a metal clip in the second picture present on the OEM Bullitt rear panel? They are located in the same position on the opposite side.

I think you are the only person I've ever seen with a black Bullitt. Can you post more pictures? I'm curious. What made you pick black?

I went with the Drake panel which was supposedly created from the Ford CAD data. I can believe that as it fits about as poorly - 3/8" out on the right side and 1/4" out on the left, although some of that is the fault of the trunk lid's alignment. I was having chrome withdrawal from ditching the Bullitt dog dish, so I went with the repo V8 badge from the '32 Ford flathead.

this black is amazing. I hope you can see the blue flakes in the paint. Just got her back - paint correction, XPEL full front, A pillars, brow, and door cups, 25% ceramic 3M tint, and ceramic paint protection on the entire car. I like the bullitt, I love black cars. This is the best of both. It looks sinister and is different. I love it.

I had gotten a full frontal xpel on mine also and they did free ceramic. Already saved my paint job when a young kid pulled too forward in a parking lot. Instead of $2k to repaint the bumper my film saved his insurance some money.

And WOW. The black looks so much better than other pictures I've seen anywhere. Sinister is a great way to put it, totally agree!!
Matches the wheels well, so now the Brembos almost take over as a main thing now!

I almost got a black Bullitt too, but the deal fell apart. And ended up with a green one (my first green car). I actually wanted the black more. Or better said, I disliked the black less. Ha ha, but the green looks great, actually. It's just that I'm tired of black/dark cars in the dusty desert, and keep saying it's my last. But because it's the only choice (it literally is on the Bullitt), ended up with yet another one. Ha ha.

Hey, may I ask how much did you pay for the full front PPF job? And in which city are you, for perspective? If not terribly expensive, I might go for it. Thanks man.

Dark vehicles are a challenge. My truck is black and my wife’s car is black. My first Mustang was black (2011 GT), my second Mustang was Gotta Have It Green (2013 Boss 302), and now I’m back in black with the Bullitt.

The full front XPEL at a shop in Houston, TX was $1895 and I added A-Pillars for $300. They threw in the front roof edge and door cups at no additional charge. I did paint correction though too for $600. What’s the point in putting protective film over factory and dealership swirl marks? I also got my windows tinted by them for $448 and 2 year ceramic coating for $698. They offered me a 10% discount and a further discount for paying cash. Overall, it got pricey but I told myself I wanted to do it right and protect her for the long haul. I’m planning to keep this Mustang for a long time. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for that info. I live in El Paso, TX, so it should be cheaper, but probably not my much. Will ask for a quote and see what I get. And what kind of film. Shops around here like Suntec better for the heat, but who knows. I did my Porsche with Suntec in Austin (shop recommended by dealer there), and they did a horrible job man. And on a trip I didn't clean the car immediately (triple digit temps), and the bug crap got embedded into the film. Looked horrible, so had to 'paint correct' the freaking film, so you have to be willing to keep washing your car at EVERY STOP if you don't want it to look like that, so beware of that possibility. Need to inquire about that 'issue' with the Xpel, but it's probably the same. We'll see. Thanks again.
