I'm looking to make an entrance into forced induction. I've always ran N/A cars. I have about 5k "fun money" set aside - how much should I aim for saving before I start my build? I want to be in the 650-700hp range. Open to twin turbos or any type of supercharger.

What would I need besides the turbo/supercharger kit to be ready to install?

That's a hard question to answer. power goals? are you doing the work or paying to get done? care about your warranty? Depending on power goals tires fuel system headers are a good idea.

Most complete kits are going to come with everything needed. Sometimes there’s recommended parts but not required

Answer is always "more".

Going FI can be a rabbit hole for sure. The costs can add up quick. Think of things like fuel system upgrades, suspension mods, drive train mods, wheels and tires, tuning costs, installation costs, etc.

If you have access to E85 I would keep things basically stock and get a race tune for E85 and go from there. Maybe upgrade to a nice return type fuel system.

Oh, and I would not start with twin turbos...

Sure...but how many have gone down the hole nonetheless? 700hp becomes 850, 850 becomes 1000. It can get out of hand fast!

8K minumum if you're going new and doing the install yourself. 650-700 is about the upper limit on 93 pump gas so if you go over that you will need to spend $$$$ on a fuel system and bigger injectors for E85.

I am doing a 2011 right now with a VMP budget kit. $6K just for the kit. Figure another $500 for NT555RIIs for the back to glue it down, I'm putting in an oil pump while it's apart, $300. Aluminum driveshaft, $650. $300 for a tuner if you don't have one. $200 for miscellaneous tools you'll need and probably don't have. I figure that will get me to 550-600RW.

Every blower gets you to 650-700rw. Get a Procharger P1x Stage2 kit, injectors and a tune for under $8k. The P1x can make much more than your goal but most Blowers will do the same. The procharger is just the easiest. I imagine you'll be well under $8k with all that.

The On3 single turbo might not be bad. No idea if the fitment is as bad as their twin kit though. It's fairly new.

Thanks for the input everyone, I'll keep tucking cash away until I'm ready.

I do plan on doing the work myself. I was a mechanic before venturing into my current field so I know how to do the work, I've just never bought the parts for my own car. I know lots of people keep adding power after the first dip into FI, but that's not my goal for this car. If I can have a relatively tame street car in the high 600's low 700's that's a bit more fun to drive, I'll be completely happy.

You can make 700whp on 91 so 93 should be no problem. injectors are part of a complete kit. You can get a complete procharger kit new for $7000. don’t need a drive shaft don’t need oil pump gears at the set power goal.

I've said it for years it all started in 1995 boosted fox and I was a crack head for years. Finally recovered and got a hit and now i'm back recovery gone

Power adders like blowers and turbos can get fun fast. A "mild" build would be somewhere ~$8k to $10k, all depending if you do the work your self or get a shop to install. And then the bug will start and you will be adding more and more, especially if you start competitive racing (drag, 1/2 mile, 1 mile, etc.).
