on an axleback, i would lean toward the stype if your keeping your resonator
How would that setup compare in volume to the Touring catback system?

I just read this entire thread. Interesting discussion! I also have recently installed the FRPP touring exhaust system after living with the stock exhaust for 6 months. (No headers). I debated between the FRPP touring and the Magnaflow Street. I finally decided the Magnaflow was too close to stock in the sound clips. Not having much past experience with exhaust systems I am quite happy with the FTPP touring. I barely hear it when cruising around town but it comes alive when you get on it. I assume the higher pitch sound at WOT is what you refer to as "rasp"? At first I wasn't sure I liked that but now the extra roar has kind of grown on me.....lol. I don't really notice what might be called drone. I thought about adding the Borla resonator but don't really want to lose any volume.
I am in pretty much the same boat as you are. I just had Steeda install the Ford Racing Touring cat backs on my 15. I was pretty surprised when I drove it home, it sounded so loud in the cabin, I thought they put the wrong system on at first, lol. I'm thinking that "rasp" sound is the kind of the "blat" sound we hear at WOT as well. Though for some reason I don't really hear it maybe five-ten minutes after the car has been running. I don't know if I'd put a resonator back in, but I'd think about an H-pipe if it got rid of the rasp a bit and added a more mellow tone. That'd be a while though since Amex just came and I may have to buckle down a bit for a while, lol.

I Thought that system sounds loud on videos i've watched...the Borla touring seems deeper, smoother and less loud..

I have a friend that had this system on one of his 15s. (he goes through a lot of cars) It didn't sound that loud and I wasn't looking for crazy volume. So, I went with it as it did and does sound great. I did have a friend drive up and down a side street with me on the sidewalk to see what it sounded like from the outside, though. Definitely sounds louder in the car than outside, so for me it's kind of a mind game to remind myself that I'm not blaring down the road.

Can anyone comment on their off the shelf Touring (by Borla) not FFRP Touring? I like the sound of the Borla but not so much the FFRP version...

The only difference between the Borla S-type and Borla Touring is one has an x-pipe and one has a resonator, both have same mufflers.

Borla Touring vs. FRPP Touring - borla is deeper but much quieter all around (even with headers), FRPP touring can be just as quiet at low speeds but when you get on the FRPP it opens up a lot more and some rasp at higher rpms, lots of rasp if you add headers.

Thanks for that....I want to add headers down the track and still not be silly loud....I dont really want rasp either so the touring sounds the go...

Touring is perfect with Kooks headers.

I've got videos on the previous page... I don't think these are though. Not sure if you mean the Borla touring or FRPP touring but here's some with the FRPP Touring & headers (Catted)

I may go with S type axlebacks on my stock system, but I will say the Borla Touring catback is the best sounding system I've heard (in video clips anyway).

Like the rest of us I've watched millions of videos and Im 99% sold on The BORLA Touring not so much the FRPP, There are many axel backs I like, Steeda, Corsa etc but the AB's seem rather pricey...If I go the Borla being an entire cat back it suits further mods like supercharges etc? I just need to check if the Borla Touring is 2.5" or 3.0"
